Am I the only one getting a blue screen after installing the royal.sys with an error like "An attempt was made to write to read-only memory"?
Does anyone have an idea as to how I can fix this?

I'm testing on a Asus A7N8X motherboard. I noticed that when you set APIC to disabled in the bios the blue screen doesn't appear but it still doesn't boot at all. It hangs after loading crcdisk.sys or something.

for those that are having the bsod problem with the paradox crack (seems to be some nvidia m/b issue) its worth looking for a prepatched bios for your m/b
try http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/02/21/sla-20-supported-bioses-for-instant-windows-vista-oem-activation/comment-page-32/#comment-137323
i used a bios from this list for my asus m2npvvm because paradox caused bsod & other oembios emu's dont like dual boot....the bios i got is latest 0705 but prepatched for oem trick...very quick and easy with asus updater had vista sorted in 5 mins i'm happy

Thanks for the tip fwb73 but thats a no-go for me. The bios supplied for my motherboard is for de pcb 2 version and I have the 1.06 version. And I don't dare to do it myself.
A strange thing is that the bios emulation version does work when I boot from cd but not after installing to the disk.
Anyone have an idea?

Xp validates OEM keys off the bios as well. No need for continual cracks to get updates.

You don't need to crack XP to get updates. Why not use a VLK?

From a week ago - Driver/Game support has improved dramatically.
It still needs work, but at least theres progression.

You know what sucks? Going back to XP after using Vista for a month... Happened to me when I got my 8800 GTX. XP is just so plain and ugly. But the lack of proper drivers is killing Vista.

I totally agree, however I am not plauged with driver problems. The only one who are IMO lagging is nVidia with thier nForce driver set. there are workarounds, but when you do an "average Joe" install by running setup it generally breaks and you'll get a BSOD on the next boot. Saying that booting to last know good fixes it also, so its not a showstopper kill all bug. Other than that I have 5.1 sound working, full video support, printer, everything... all apps and games I have tried works also (ranging from Zbrush 2 to the latest games, Test Drive Unlimite, STALKER, etc)
You update stuff manually and leave the RAID controller alone and its all good.
But I suffer from the XP is ulgy and plain syndrome when I use XP at work...
Plus the whole type your app in the startmenu thing I totally miss. Beats looking thru menus to find shit. just type the first three letters of said app and you'll get a list...
