Right, lately i just can't view movies in VLC while I run vista..not sure why as it used to work. Any ideas? I get a black screen and sound and thats about it. Also, what player do you suggest for mkv files? shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Honestly, what do you expect? It's Windows VISTA. I also think fisk should be unbanned.

Does the player grow when you play a movie, adding a black screen only as if the video SHOULD be there but its just blacked out? If so its no doubt a video overlay problem. Look at the video overlay options, try switching to DirectX overlay, or disable any new applications that might be using video overlay. Do you have one of those video backgrounds? That could be doing it.
