yea, its hot glue, heres the final picture before some electrical tape was put over it... Oh yea, I also glued the chip down. -

The pictures make the chip look big, this is the size of the chip (try and spot it Razz)-

Dazimus, I live about 160 miles from you right at the north of england.

Thanks Smile.. Try this site for installers -

http://www.cheapmod.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1344

The owner of cheapmod (Glen) recommends him.

Cheers mate, I'm thinking if I have to buy the Wiikey I'd get it from Cheapmod (bought my R4DS and had great service then) so his recommendation counts for a lot.

Steve-O, can I ask what wattage soldering iron you used? I am getting ready to do 3 Wii's in the week and at the moment was figuring on relying on my 15watt one.

It's been a while since I did any soldering - although I was fine at doing it. I intend to have a practise on some old circuit board before I tackle my own Wii though.

Interesting to see you used hot glue though. Cheers.

I used a 15watt Weller Fine Tipped iron. Just take your time and you will be fine Smile

Yup, Hot glue is great for holding the wires down and adding strength to the install (makes sure the wires never come loose from vibrations / bangs etc)

If the worst comes to the worst - how hard is hot glue to remove? Oh and thanks for the reply!

Its not that hard to remove but its optional to use it, its not needed but most installers use hot glue.

Hey guys, I am going to install a wiikey, but I need a diagram that shows the exact points to connect the wires to...i do not want to just solder it without wires for obvious reasons...anyone have a link to something like that, it would be much appreciated. And thanks for all the help!

One final question steve-0 - what solder did you use? I notice some people saying avoid certain ones. Any problems using regular solder?

LOL, thanks, but I meant what type of solder, silver solder, lead free solder...etc etc. Smile I wondered if one was now favoured over others these days. Been a few years since I soldered anything you see.

hey all, i just finished installing my wiikey...it works fine except for one thing...when the system loads up, it keeps ejecting (well, making the sound of ejecting)...the only way i can get it to stop is to insert a disc...and when i eject the disc, it keeps on ejecting once again...any idea what I can do to fix this?

Sorry to point this out but 'Most installers' do not use Hot glue! Especially on a mod chip that will need reprogamming very shortly !

Good business is where you find it !

Having some problems here similiar to what I have had in the past. Solder isns't stcking to the points on the chip and instead is just "balling" and then rolling away. Any tips on how to approach this? thanks.
