Works fine here, all settings at medium,except texture detail which is at max. My rig : http://www.amazon.com/6330-Inspire-4-Slice-Toaster-Stainless/dp/B0001O2WY2/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_k2a_3_txt/002-3562546-5702457

Anyone noticed a problem with saving in Stalker? I'm using the Unleashed release and whenever i go to save the game crashes to desktop with no error message. I'm running the game with everything maxed @ 1280/1024 on Vista (32bit), but in-game is silky smooth. I'm guessing its something to do with the clone release? Or maybe a Vista?

Any Ideas?

could be vista, the OS isnt exactly the best for gaming right now. Also did you restart your computer after install or the crash? Restarting does wonders in fixing things.

Nope didn't restart, will give it a shot. Also just noticed Vitality's release. Hopefully the crack will solve it.

You have to give some info: what release,what are your specs and your OS,do you have updated drivers and codecs etc.

no suggestions but I have exactly the same problem here Sad

I've even unmounted the CD and still nothing happens except the exe showing in task manager using 17mb and 0 cpu. That I think rules out problems with copy protection.

@ Lorcin

I think I found the cause of your problems :
you have Access time (tAC) = 0.700 ns fMax = 1428.571 MHz
when it should be 1428.621 Mhz or higher

Solution : Buy a new PC

erm if your serious that .05mhz is my problem then I'll OC a bit as it can run a lot faster then this.

If your just being a bit of a git with comments such as "Buy a new PC" because one component is 0.05Mhz slower then you think it should be then thanks ever so much for you input - I'll cherish it allways.

EDIT: Vitality version does exactly the same (ie nothing)

I don't see any models, just the world around me. I hear everything going and can move, but I just see the atmosphere, nothing else.

I'm running a 4200+ X2 @2.63ghz
2GB OCZ Plat Performence Ram
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe

EVGA 7800GT CO

I am on windows vista.

My game crashes on startup.
I get the Stalker splash screen and then the bugtrap XRay Engine program comes up telling me about the crash.

System:
AMD 64 2800+
Nvidia 7800 GS
1.5GB RAM

Reason: XR_3DA.exe caused BREAKPOINT in module "E:\games\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl\bin\xrCore.dll" at 001B:00FE6024, xrDebug::backend()+740 byte(s)

Registers:
EAX=019A39F0 EBX=01000B2A ECX=019A39F8 EDX=019A3AA9
ESI=01015D78 EDI=00000002 FLG=00000206
EBP=7C36A42B ESP=00229A2C EIP=00FE6024
CS=001B DS=0023 SS=0023 ES=0023 FS=003B GS=0000

Anyone else getting this problem?
This crash occurs without any crack. With Vitality the game dont even crash. It just attempts to starts and then its gone. No error message. Just shuts down.

Anyone?

Alright, here are some common solutions I've found

First - If you are using vista - revert back to the ORIGINAL vista drivers. Choose Update Drivers from Control Panel, then Choose your driver, then chose the Microsoft one - works like a charm for me, in fact, game runs best on that driver.

Another - Get the latest of Daemon Tools and Yasu, the newer daemon tools has an easier time running games from hard disks which will improve performance. Very cool..

A third - Turn the gamma down one level. For some reason, if you overblow it in Stalker, it decreases performence and causes crashes. Don't know why.

And finally, SOUND DRIVERS. Check the sound settings in Stalker, if you have EAX enabled without an EAX card, DISABLE IT. And update your drivers.

Good luck.

I noticed some sluggishnes while playing and i solved it by splitting and resizing the paging file (virtual memory)

It was originaly set to 258-3007 mb on drive c (which is moronic since ther OS is also on c)
I created pagefiles on my other two disks also, 4 gigs on each, and now it runs smooooth!

Remeber kids do not put several pagefiles on the same hdd even if you have several partitions, it has to be on separate disks and it does speed up a loot (not just games) since the os and pagefile is not on the same disk aymore and have to wait for eachother!

Also, when you defrag your pagefiles will rmain intact since they will not be defraged which is rubbish, to get around this the easy way do this:

*

Eliminate the fragmented pagefile
*

Create a temporary page file on another drive
*

Reboot
*

Defragment the drive that held the original page file
*

Eliminate the temporary page file
*

Recreate the original page file
*

Reboot

Of all the things i've lost, i miss my mind the most!
