My MFR March 2006 Xbox360 is on the way out, Crashing every 5mins. Just a quick question, Am I able to eject the DVD tray once I get the red lights? As I don't want games stuck in the damn tray when i'm sending it back.
Get a flat screw driver and pull it out...And buy a PS3

Haha, "flat screw driver". I think you mean "standard". What do you call a "Phillips"? A cross shaped screw driver?
I bought a PS3 and it died that night. What kind of suggestion is that? Luckily I returned it to Best Buy where I had purchased it, a second controller, and Full Auto 2 for a full refund. PS3's suck. I'd buy 10 360's before I buy another PS3.
I bought my xbox360 on release and ive had no problems with it whatsoever even firmeware hacked it - none of my friends that bought it have had any problems with it either. so no the failure rate is not bad..
Well, From what I've seen this problem is very common as I've known a few mates who have had the same freezing problems as me, and one of them has the Red light.
I was comparing the failure rate to something like the Xbox 1, The only problem those had were crappy disk drives. At least that never died on you after a few months.
I'm on my second, but the first brokedown I think due to ventilation, so was my fault. The only real problem is if it does break down you're never sure that the latest generations will be moddable.
tis funny everyone who has had a problem with their 360 always has had 6 or whatever and they always die when updating & all their friends 360s are screwed too...
for me my 1 yr old 360 has had every update with no issue....have never had any other issue & of all my friends with a 360 (about 30 of them) no-one has had any problems...
That's true. There are some really dumb people on the xbox forums. If they'd bother to work out the probability of 6 consecutive breakdowns, and it not being because of something about the environment.
why blame MS if ive never had a problem and dont know anyone who has...have only heard about it on forums... if its down to m/b flexing etc (and the above link/post is not conclusive anyway) then its obviously a heat issue possibly a user issue - venting/positioning/moving/care
as said i look after my 360...its in a well ventilated position... i dont have the beer/ganja session house problems which can take its toll on your beloved hardware . All my friends are sensible with theirs too...
we may never know conclusively what causes the dreaded 3 ring death, unless someone does a large scale survey of those who return their 360's etc... including questions like where is it positioned?...well ventilated room? any smokers? any parties? is it modded? has a residential electrical power test been done (as power fluctuations whilst updating the dash maybe an issue)...etc etc etc
i dunno i may just be in a lucky set of 360 friends...
It's probally region related, only one of the factories cocked it up.
'WatchDog' on UK television warned about dodgy 360's, and one retailer in the UK even had 100% per cent failure rate on their entire stock of 360's... lol
There is something definately dodgy going on to which M$ will not admit to.
I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????
Just accept there is a problem with the failure rates of 360's.
Regardless of whether you've had problems or your 30 imaginary mates have, it's undeniable that there have been far more hardware problems with 360's compared to the original xbox.

"Faith without logic is the same as knowledge without understanding; meaningless"
could it be that the problem is regional? im by no means an expert but it just seems to me that the problem happens mostly to american/european owners. i live in israel and none of my friends ever had a problem despite the heat.
There is a substantial problem with the 360 design that causes the three red lights.
Any speculation to why, where and how is just speculation and does not remove the FACT that they are failing in large numbers, far higher than industry standards.
1 year of successful gaming means nothing, it can fail at 1.5 or 2 years. The probability of failure is HIGH.
Had some beers, accidently put a 2nd dvd in and then it smelled burned. Now it says "open tray", instead of playing game. Think i have to ship it to the m$ doctor.
Well, I did get it working for a bit. So I decided to do a bit of video.
I find out whats more playable, My 360 or a game of Dr.Jekyll & My.Hyde for the NES.

HA HA HA HA HA, so funny
I call screw drivers a "flathead" and a "crosshead" simple enough isn't it? never thought i'd see someone sad enough to mock someone because they don't use the same term for them as everyone else, dizturbd is the right name for you.
Don't be retarded !!!! It's 'positive' and 'negative' screw drivers.
he's right you know... which reminds me my box failed, got crashing then the 3 red lights, so took it back to Virgin. They said they would'nt replace it since they hava a strict return policy. I looked into this and it seems UK consumer law says different. So I downloaded and printed the concise 'Sale of Goods and Services act ammended 2002' and showed it to the store manager with my box and reciept. He squirmned a bit and then just got a new Premium box out the store.
I've been holding onto it before I get it flashed, incase it goes wrong again. After 50+ hrs of Oblivion it should be run in now!
