|
 |
Hi to all,
A friend just got a new mac pro desktop & it accompanied 2 install DVDs for MAC OS X. The DVDs are just Un-Readable in windows machine. Now i just wanted to give it a try on my core2duo machine as most people do it on "osx86project.org".
Can u plz tell me the most reliable way/app that will make an Exact bootable copy of these OS X DVDs pls. Alcohol will do the trick i guess, can someone let me know what parameters to check while backing it up. Any other suggestions are most welcome.
Thx

Because it's impossible... And the old version of the OS that did work on VMWare ran so slow it was funny to try and do something with it...

There exists and altered package out there that will install on SSE2 hardware... but definately not the packaged DVD that comes with a Mac.

OSX can be installed on any X86 machine, so LeoNatan.. your wrong. Not every version works, but most do, you simply need to patch the installers etc.. as stated instructions can be found on osx86project.org.. They run fine as the OS is built on the same hardware. So long as your CPU supports SSE2 and SSE3 your good to go (it works on SSE2 only but is a little slower).. Oh and if anyone goes on about Rosetta, its almost un-needed now so long as you use new application (compiled for intel) so don't worry about it.
As for building your own DVD? Are there no instructions on the website? I downloaded a pre patched version, I'm sure they're still around!

yeah, it works.
basically this DVD came with a Quad Core XEON MAC pro. so it is almost the same hardware like our x86 machines.
as for the copying, I'll do it with Alcohol. But whatever I googled, mostly leads to the fact that the DVDs can be properly copied under a MAC OS only.

It can be quite the pain to install. Especially getting your graphics card to work properly.
And Dos or Mac Terminal Command knowledge is kinda essential when installing custom drivers.
Good luck!
