So the terrible happened my 400GB Seagate powered portable HDD went down... I have tried opening the chassis plugged it in with a normal ATA connection but my computer simply wont boot it... Can I save any data on it or is it all hopeless? Sad

Depends on which part of the HDD is damaged... Usually, with such cases, it is recommended to take the drive to an external company that specializes with data restoring.
