Has anyone else using a legit copy of windows been having issues with services crashing since a recent update?

I shut down my PC last night and it told me it needed to install an update before shutdown.. so I let it.. When I came to it this morning, I boot up and almost all of my services die. Windows update, Windows Audio Service, Computer Browser ...etc.. I looked at my recently installed updates and it doesn't show an update from last night, so I can only assume it didn't install correctly. I booted up the auto update service and it told me it had 3 updates, on WGA and the other updates where for VS2005 and OFFICE2003. I manually installed the WGA update, going to restart and see how things fair this time round..

Thoughts?

The manual installation seems to have worked, I'll keep this thread updated just in case.

You are probably getting the SVCHost/Windows Update using 100% of your CPU bug that just apeared recently.
The best way to fix it is if you go to the Windows Update page, click on "change settings" on the left there is a tick box at the bottom "Disable Microsoft Update software and let me use Windows Update only".

That fixed it until M$ get a working patch out. The ones they just recently released dont work at all.

Its either that or disable Windows Update completely and ust Autopatcher to update monthly instead Smile
