i know its early to speak of and stuff but this looks so good. they sped up play 40-60% and have a staff/player sheet of over 250,000. pretty nice if you ask me Smile.

a demo will be out in a magazine at the end of the month but its also gonna be on the site later.

Yeah, I'm playing CM 03/04 right now, and I so want this football manager!
It looks goergoues, surely a winner.
Tough they have a rival, the Championship manager 04/05 which ones was held by SIgames was sold to another company, and now they are working on it.
So we gonna see 2 managers this year.

Eidos had the rights to the name so SIGames had to change the name when they stopped using Eidos as their publisher.

There are now 2 forks of the original championship manager.:

Football Manager 2005 which is developed by SI Games and is the proper sequel to the old CM series.

Championship Manager 5 which is developed by Beautiful Game Studios and being published by Eidos.

Regarding FM5, I hope it is at least better than the CM4 series which was terrible. Hopefully they will also work on ironing out the massive gameplay flaws in the game instead of adding gimmicky features but I can't see it. Maybe CM5 will actually turn out to be decent and better than FM5.

I think CM03-04 was the best CM edition, I cant wait for the demo (and the final product) of FM2005.

It had a few nice features but it was far too easy. I won the SPL with Hibs and was beating teams like Herta Berlin in the UEFA cup after 2 seasons without signing anyone! All the youngsters were amazing in the team and were much better than they are in real life.

This happened with other teams so I stopped playing it. I know a few people from the CM community and they all said the same thing - that it was too easy. I reckon they toned it down to appeal to the general masses (non-football fans).

cm5 wont be as good. Sigames own all the copyright and stuff eidos just invested a bit and helped produce some. SI ownes the rest so cm5 will be a pretty new platform and wont cover a larger area than fm2005.

Spot on. It was way too easy, felt like a dumbed down version of CM3 to me.

I've had it with a 3rd Division Scottish team but also in a LAN game I played a few weeks back (was giving it a final chance as I never played 03-04 with latest patch) where I was playing Inter. I only bought a striker and after 6 or so games I had won all, 1 goal against, also easy victories in CL and Adriano had more goals than games... *yawn* I was also playing a default tactic etc. I mean winning is one thing but no goals against and scoring a lot of goals without any effort isn't much fun. I know it was with Inter but I already had played Lazio (5-0) and Juve (2-0) too.

No media interaction. Tons and tons and tons of useless shots from 35m by your central midfielder... it's just a bad product.

CM2 is probably the game I played most ever (and that means an ungodly amount of hours). CM3 I played loads too but CM4 was just that... crappy. Hell even CM1 was more fun Shocked

BETA demo is starting to appear on peoples doorsteps, and tommorow sometime it will be released online at SiGames.com (expect it when you least expect it - I.E; the day after).

Doesn't seem to be much opinion on the game filtering through the pesky moderators Wink

Hmm this is the first time I hear that SIGAMES is developing FM2005.. I thought they were making CM5!

Cm3 was good, but Cm4 was a disaster and I didnt like 03/04 either, I hope fm2005 will be great.

When does it come out?

What happen was after sigames dropped Eidos as a publisher they Eidos got the name (championship manager) and sigames took all of the innards. Like gameplay, stats, player db ect. So whoever is making CM5 is starting from scratch and I doubt it will be as good as FM2005.

You guys forget that there's another soccer (yes I'm american) management game from EA. It had some neat-o features, but nowhere as indepth as Championship Manager. It did use the fifa engine to play out games (horrible I might add) but if they can vastly improve on that it would be fun.

Yes it's called total club manager, it will probably be better than CM5 given the current state of FIFA 2005 - but it's still not suited for simulation games, and as many criticisms as I have for FM and previous CM games - the fact is it's in a world of it's own at the moment.

TCM series are the worst manager games ever. Once I saw that my entire team lost 10 points in moral after a player made a joke, and I laughed, I gave up that game for good.

One thing that always screams out "SHIT MANAGEMENT GAME!" is the ability to build/change the stadium. What fucking manager is able to do anything with the stadium?! Pure bullshit.

BETA Demo is out, and I can vouch that the BETA of these games is quite different to the GOLD version so I wouldn't get too upset by any bugs or glitches you see - just make sure to report any they don't know:

PC

Via Bittorrent - http://www.filerush.com/download.php?target=FootballManager2005BetaDemo.exe
Gameshadow - http://www.gameshadow.com/sigames
SI - http://www.sigames.com/downloads.php?type=download&id=227&file=352
CoreFM - http://www.corefm.net/downloads/fm2005beta.php

MAC

SI - http://www.sigames.com/downloads.php?type=download&id=227&file=351

Haven't tried it yet, but few people seem to be a little unimpressed - I figured as much myself...

Strange, I've downloaded it already from both the torrent site and Gameshadow, you sure?

I'm a little taken aback at how long it's going to take to get comfortable with the interface, and the lack of ambience music is a bit unsettling still - you'd think they'd add something to keep things moving along.

Anyway there are some nice new features, but as I say I've got to get used to this damn interface, font is a bit difficult to read at a glance too Sad

EDIT - I see gameshadow have not only taken one server down but limited the remaining one. Sure you'll get lucky, it's no half-life or Doom. Demand will die down.

http://www.filerush.com/torrents/FootballManager2005BetaDemo.exe.torrent Right click, save as, and then open it. Should work

I think they might have opened the download gates earlier then planned or over use

I dont mind the GUI at all, easy to get used to

Playing as Manchester United, played 22 games, I am behind Arsenal by 1 point. I signed no one during the summer. However during the winter break I was able to sign up;
Ronaldinho
Misto
Deco
Riquelme

Sold Silvestre, used him in being able to get Ronaldinho

I after a good half season for the clubs cash coffin I got more money to spend on players from the board. Now hopefully I will be able to have better rotations and more ease in doing better formations more adapt to the other team

AND SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT, after 23 games the game stops.

Been playing for a bit and first impressions are quite good. There are some nice new features but SkylineGTR is right when he says the interface is a bit dodgy. What's the point in having to click in the bottom right on the "Respond" button then move all the way to the other side to click "Confirm changes" or whatever after choosing the options. Pretty amateurish. and it doesn't feel natural at all.

There are some nice new tactical features which I was suprised about but I guess the only real indication of how improved the tactics etc are will be when the full game is released.

The game is a bit too simplistic and easy but still is fun. Does anyone have a an demo expander patch for the game?
