With arma coming up I still remember this all time great Smile

Now I over the years always wondered the following ... I remember a OF map where I was "left behind" in the woods, and when I checked my map it had a huge area of land... (there were choppers flying around)

I usually tried to get to a village, steal a tractor or something and get out (usually didn't work and ended me dead)

Anyway, on that map i mentioned all the other way there was a sort of port town listed at a sea (duh) and I always wondered, even if its not my objectives to go there, is it possible if I really played good and survived to get over there... does that town really exist ?

Anyone ever tried ?

Sorry to start a thread pure on this nostalic rememberance, but I would really like to know

You can go anywhere on the OFP and Arma map.

always had a hard time with that mission, i'd hurry out and grab a law+rockets & binocular from the dead soldiers near where you start, then run through the forest, take out the bmp that patrolled at the other end and tried shooting down the helicopter.

then it was just pure luck if i survived long enough to get to the evacuation-point

answer to your question: yes you could make it there, but i think the port was overrun by enemy forces before you get there, so there's no point in trying. it's scripted so you will end up "where you actually do".....

Dunno what mission you're talking about.. but I did the last mission in a totally different way, put a few SF on a truck, went down on the map to a place that I knew was an airbase in a previous mission and luckily there was two attack choppers there, loaded them with the SF and completed the mission easy way Very Happy

I don't trust anyone anymore ... I still believe it will NOT look like this. Only a gameplay trailer will convince me, this is newbie shit.

What's so difficult to believe? DOF or high poly models? It's not like beatiful games always need the most raw power but the best selection of features for the specific game...IMO

There you go! My low expectations are being met.

This reminds me of the KILLZONE E3 trailer. Expect the real deal to look similar or better? Why not show the ingame shots that give so much confidence? Obviously, this game will be poop.

Because those responsible for creating two of the best war simulations will not be involved in the project, and they are using the name OFP despite this fact.

Well it's Operation Flashpoint (2001 to 2002 for the expansion.) with the second expansion (First expansion by different team so I guess that's why it's not included.) but with a new name and little else. Smile

A nice gesture might have been to "freeware" it though.

Was done as some of the first fan-made missions, later a project called CWR or Cold War Re-Armed started on it more in-depth with it's own assets and all that and eventually released a version for ArmA 1 containing the content from the Flashpoint demo, they're currently working on it on ArmA 2 now with permission from Bohemia.
(Somewhat modular, first thing now is to finish Flashpoint, then there's Red Hammer and finally Resistance though I read about it quite some time ago so things might have changed.)

EDIT: Well look at that a demo of ArmA 2 CWR was released yesterday. Very Happy
