With the exception of the capitol in Norway, street violence is more or less non-existant, or very uncommon. Of course you have drunk people fighting now and then
None here where I live.
But maybe that's because I live in a neighborhood that most people that live in it are academical dudes and old people
Although I understand that in other cities and neighborhoods there are some 'street fighting'. Not anything like gang wars, but small fights between punks.
Here in calgary we have almost no street violence. Sure theres the outside of bar fights, but that really minor.
But, i have a limited view becasue i dont live near any low income housing and what not. I live in a trendy inercity area. We do have bikers here than run much of the highend drug and prostitution, but those disputes are handled behind closed doors, and rarely reported.
I live downtown, near low income neighborhoods, and I never see people fighting in the streets. Sure, lots of fucking crazies walking down the street babbling to themselves, but no fighting

People fight a lot here. And for no reason at all. A group of guys just come up to one guy and beat the shit out of him just like that and no one does a thing. A day or so ago two guys beat up some girls and a transvestite eho was singing in some concert.
People here really fight, I mean for no reason at all. Football days are the worst.
As a matter of fact, a bullet just went through my window and hit me in the chest (again). This is the 7th one today. Good thing i always put my vest on as soon as i wake up in the morning. And just 5 minutes ago, this happened right outside my window. Lucky for you i happened to have my camera handy.

Kinda like that here only there are fights because of the crackheads. I haven't seen anything too bad because I leave right away.
As far as street fights we have swarming. Like when maybe 12 or more teenagers beat someone pretty much to death. Don't hang out in parks or school grounds at night.
My neighborhood has gotten much better just because of one house. They sold it to new people, a family that isn't renting out the downstairs. They were fighting every single night in the summer. Police there every 2 or 3rd day.

Yesterdays paper headline was teen gets 3 yrs in beating death. Is that normal in the rest of the world. I don't mean to go off topic. They were 13 and 15 and beat an elderly 73 yr old man to death. There were 2 victims, but one died of a stroke 1 month after the attack.
I guess now they serve 18 months because of time served or something.
I know it is worse in the states, inner city stuff but some areas in Canada are going to end up just like the states.
I know, they were underage but still. It was 2 sikh men too that they beat up. One was just trying to use a bathroom. It is like you kill someone here and all you get is nothing over 3 yrs. or probation where you live at home and can go to work.
Even the kid who dragged a gas attendant to death under his car for 3 blocks... got hardly nothing. I think like 2 yrs and he got some reduced sentence because he was part native and suffered hardships in his life. THe kid ran the guy over when the attendant tried to collect the $10 in gas. It was a gas and dash.
