i have my desktop disabled
the background and icons just take memory that could be used elsewhere, and the desktop can be accessed directly from the taskbar (the very useful toggleable toolbars)
my IRC practically is my background as it's always there
i do have the indian test screen as background on the login screen for the sheer silliness of it and the reference of a machine offline

and my love for fallout ofcourse
