Some of you may remember a long time ago i made a thread asking for advice on bulking. weight training and nutrition. Well, i am happy to say that almost 2 years since that post i have successfully gained an amazing 3 stone of pure muscle (45 pounds). I have gone from struggling to bench 40 KG to benching over 140 KG in just 21 months.
I had a hard routine, sometimes so hard that i failed and cause injury, but determination got me through. I will update soon with before/after pics, thanks to anyone who gave me tips and advice back then!
yeah, I bet the lot of you are real tough lifting 40kg once, and lifting it as part of an exercise routine are two different things
but damn, 2 years my ass needs to get in shape before I'm old and fat (27 now)
had to lift that much for my last job without any problems. Anywho it's not like it's a shame to not be able to lift as much as others
Still ... moving boxes in a warehouse or something doesn't necessarily translate to what you can bench press. I've had jobs moving shit, and I suck at lifting weights ... not the same
Btw im working out too now. Im about 182 and 72 kgs. Before i started using weightgainer i was like 66 kgs. So in 2 months i gained quit a bit. I go to the gym 3 times a week and try to get to 78kgs. Perhaps you can tell me some workouts. I just do some things that look cool, dont know about the serious workouts.
Kinda cool thread, ill try to keep it clean from dazz99 posts.
I'm a tad over 12 stone infact where I train (fitness first) we have a weighing machine so I decided to weigh myself and yesterday and I weigh 76.4Kg not bad considering my MOR Bench is 120
My shoulders arent too bad as for my Deadlifts I havent done any in a while due to back problems but I was doing 6 reps for 3 plates a side (140Kg) around 3 sets without many problems though due to my back ache I've had to give up DL's for a couple of weeks

I dont know all these therms, dead lift? Have sites where they are explained?
Basically you just put more weight than you could lift yourself, have a dude help you lift it(or just he lifts it up), and you alone slowly lower it to your chest. Since there is still a lot of work involved in lowering, but you can use much more weight than normal, you get good gains with it.

What the hell are you on about . What you're talking about sounds like assisted positives / negatives which shouldn't be done by a beginner (some people argue it's pointless for anyone). Also assisted negatives don't give you "good gains" because:
1) Assisted negatives / positives is a strength excercise which should only be done by advanced lifters.
2) No lift gives you good gains just from doing it. To make gains you need to eat more than your body burns AND lift hard. You could lift for 10 years and not eat enough food and you would probably only put on a little muscle.
A deadlift is a lift that you pull the barbell from the floor using your legs and spine, it's an awesome lift that activates a shit load of your muscles in one movement . Like this:

Starting Strength by Mark Ripptoe is a very good program recommended to beginners.
wow 40 kg.. I managed 105 kg without training one bit at first
231lbs on your first ever bench press? Congrats, you're considered an intermediate lifter, possibly even advanced (depending on your bodyweight) on your FIRST EVER bench press which people usually spend up to 2 years working towards! You must be some genetic freak of nature buddy!
