Thanks for the FarCry suggestion, how do you get it to run with SM3.0 tho?

Install the 1.4 patch .. also, you might have to do some other things ..
Quote: | As we mentioned at the top of this article, the support for Shader Model 2.0b and 3.0 is official, and is enabled by default on all supported boards when the in-game graphics settings are set to 'Very High'. Geometry instancing is enabled by default when the Shader Model 3.0 path is being used, so it is enabled by default on any GeForce 6 board, providing you have forced the Shader Model 3.0 path. On ATI's boards, you need to enable geometry instancing inside Catalyst Control Center under the 'API Specific' tab, after you have done this, start Far Cry and type 'r_geominstancing 1' in console.
Both normal map compression and high dynamic range rendering are in beta development, and must be enabled via console or command-line shortcuts should you choose to use them. To enable the former, you must start up a level and then type 'r_texnormalmapcompressed 1' in console. When you change levels, this option will automatically disable itself again. We will save discussion about high dynamic range rendering for a little later on. |

and
Quote: | HDR
The other exciting feature that the GeForce 6 series video cards have is a Floating Point 16 framebuffer that supports the OpenEXR method of High Dynamic Range Lighting. There are other ways to do HDR, but this method is one of the more accurate means of obtaining HDR lighting, however, it does cause a large impact in performance as we will see later. To enable the OpenEXR method of HDR being used in FarCry you must have a GeForce 6 series video card and you must disable Anti-Aliasing because this feature is not compatible with AA. Bring down the console and type “\r_hdrrendering x”, (where x represents a number which indicates the type of HDR lighting). There are 11 different types of HDR lighting in FarCry. We have found that the number indicates how the light rays being cast from the HDR lighting are rendered. For example, if you type “\r_hdrrendering 2” we have found this disables the light rays. If you type “\r_hdrrendering 10” or “\r_hdrrendering 11” you will find some very unique ways of rendering light rays. Most people have found, and we agree, that “\r_hdrrendering 7” provides the best quality. |

I upgraded from an 8500 LE, so I hadn't been able to play a new game for about 2 years until I got the 6800 |
I went from an ATI 9600SE to an x800GTO to 7900GS KO

I have a 8800GTX, new rig barely 1month old.
I remember my first FarCry playthru I kept lowering and lowering the settings as the game progressed (had a 6600GT).
I actually installed Planescape - Torment last night...it's been awhile.
Some weird graphical bugs have been hunting me tho, black squares instead of regular "fog of war", weird.
Maybe I just don't remember how It used to look.

hmmm ... I guess the sm 3.0 makes a big difference in FarCry for performance ... I played with 6800, 2000+ and everything maxed out, 2xQ AA and 4X AF ... ran fine, like 40-50 FPS ....

Hitman: Blood Money, awesome game.
Been getting a hankerring to play that one again myself, but keep getting sidetracked. I don't spend a lot of time gaming so they tend to kinda pile up.

I just recently played through Max Payne 2 again with the Cinema mod. It's almost like a new game, the minigun is awesome!
