I'm going to TJ tonight to go clubbing!
Anyway, being from SD I suggest you go to Coronado and downtown. There are a bunch of battleships/carriers that are left open for the public to tour. You also may wanna check out Balboa Park and the Famous San Diego Zoo and Belmont Park.
Oh yeah, we have a Sea World here too if your interested LoL. There's a ton more just can't think of it right now.
BTW, if your going to TJ just make sure to be careful. There is so much shit that's happened to people I know and friends down there that it's ridiculous.
EDIT: Oh yeah! Make sure you eat at In-N-Out Burger, I believe it's a CA native food place (May be wrong). Everybody who comes here loves it so give it a try.

I have driven down the Oregon Coast and into Cali and over to Reno, Los Vagas Then into Arizona. I loved Arizona the most. Went to a little place called sedona. Kinda a natural hippy town, lots of artists. Also went to a really cool town called Jerome which was built on a steep hillside. It was really weird. You almost feel uncomfortable driving the sitchbacks. There was a scary biker bar there. Something like outta the movies
Saw the Hover Damn. That was cool. Beautiful driving. Grand Canyon I wished I took a tour down to the bottom. We didn't have a lot of money back then so we didn't.
Ohh something I learned late. Drinking in Reno and Vagas is free if you are gambling. Play the nickel slots and just drink your face off.
Don't stay in hotels that charge by the hr. Being cheep, we did. Bad. It looked ok from the outside but it was dirty. The tub was green mold. We didn't sleep in the sheets.
Zion National park had some cool rock formations. I would suggest going there. Cliffdwellers was cool to pass through. It is like something outta the Road runner cartoon.
I think I was on HWY 1. I have to check later and get back.

Reno - as pistolshrimp said
Yosemite National Park - must go rock climbing !
San Fran - wanna pay me a visit? No, seriously the troubled parts of town are scattered all over. Chinatown is pretty safe at night tho. Good things to see while you're there:
Fisherman's Wharf
Lombart Street
Chinatown
Metrion
Exploratorium
The Zoo
Transamerica Building
Japanese Garden; Golden Gate Park
Union Square
...and much more
Santa Barbara - Lovely place. South side of the main street (I forget what its called) is great for partying, but you wouldn't want a job there, if you know what I mean.
Highway 1 (The winding bending one along the coast) - Lots of great scenery. You'll love it
Los Angeles (Hollywood, New Port beach, etc.) - Too much to list. Just stay away from the campus of University of Southern California, and anything with Compton in the name.
San Diego - That Crazy ass Camel will be able to help you more
Tjuana (Mexico) - 80% Ghetto, I swear. If a cops tries to rip you off for speeding with Veinte Sinco dollares, just keep saying Sinco dollares and try to push a $5 in his hand. Works every time.
Pheonix - Went to visit my uncle there once. Ummm, not much to do really.
Grand Canyon - nice tourist spot, nothing special
Death Valley - Its called Death Valley for a reason. Bring at least sunglasses.
Las Vegas - I think you don't need advice here.
And of course:

Getting into TJ from SD I suggest you park your car in one of the pay to park lots on the US side of the border. Don't risk parking your car down there. Just park it up here, and walk the 10 minute walk across the border.
Don't even think about driving around down there, TJ isn't necessarily "ghetto" there are parts of Mexico that are pure shit compared to TJ but it is a place that's pretty dirty. You'll be amazed at how you can look at both sides of each country and the US has bright blue sky's nice tree's but when you look toward Mexico it's the complete opposite.
Anyway just park your car and anywhere you go down there do it via Taxi, driving your own car is asking for trouble. + You most likely will not be familiar with the driving etiquette down there, when a cop see's something that's a "Greengo" move they don't hesitate to pull you over.
Let me give you an example, there is an accident on one of their freeways and we are stuck in traffic, the police are trying to get through the traffic by force and everybody is pulling off to the sides to let the cops through, well my friend and I were in an Acura TL which is a pretty wide car compared to what they drive down there and the cop literally scraps/rubs/slams against the side of our car looks at us and smiles and goes on his merry way. There are tons more stories that's just one, don't even make me bring up how much they try to bribe you for speeding etc.
And remember, since Mexico is not liable for what happens to your US car and belongings they do offer some lame compensation called "Mexican Insurrance" that you pay for at the border which sorta gives you some safety but it's nothing much.
Also when coming back across make sure you don't bring shit with you, make sure you have your I.D.'s ready and make sure your not drunk!
Don't get me wrong, you can have a blast down there so long as you take the necessary precautions and are aware of yourself. My friend got arrested there last night and he happens to still be there! LoL

I heard so many shit stories about TJ that when we went to cali last year with GF and bro we just skipped the whole mexico part.
A friend of mine went there, he got stopped in the street by a cop, cops ask for his ID he gave him his passport, then the cops ask him 100$ or no passport back, thats the kind story that made me decide NO road trip to mexico, we wnet to vegas and we had a blast.

Your probably reffering to the clubs. The big clubs like Mystery and Safari have a $18 cover charge for males and $13 for females and it has free drinks the entire night. They bust out a menu you pick your drinks and tip the waiter and rinse and repeat all night.
One of the more popular clubs is Papas and Bear, it's huge and E-40 is gonna be performing there this weekend memorial Day.

Free drinks at casinos are a gimic. unless your at a high roller table, dont expect to get drunk on free drinks. At the nickle slots, you will hardly every see a waitress for a free drink. For good free drink service, sit at a mimimum $10 bet table, can be poker, craps etc. These you have a chance at getting drunk on free booze. One thing you will notice is that you feel great in the casinos, becasue they pump them full of oxygen, and hence will gamble more.

Horrordee wrote: | Also, anyone ever spent July 4th in Las Vegas? I'll be there and looking for advice |
If you want to club. I recomend getting bottle service if there is a bunch of you, say 10 people. IF you cant aforde bottle service, get to the club very very early, or you will be inline for hours. If you have no girls with you, you will wait even longer.
Were are you staying? Do not stay at circus circus, its a dive. A great place to stay is mandalay bay, or the new MGM towers. Both are amazing and have killer pools. Book early for july 4th, but it will be expensive depending what you want. Bathelor rooms start @ 150 a night during the week, and double on the weekend, unless you got a pakage deal. Suits at nice places like MGM, mandalay bay, etc can start $1000 a night and go upto $5000 a night.
You can always stay somewhere off the strip, but why would you?
Vegas is all about service, and service increases as your bank roll does.
IF you with the boys, head over to Spearmint and Rhino, its Vegas best Gentlemens club.
Bars like Studio54 and Coyote Uglys are kinda lame, and just cashing in on the name. I recomend Tao nightclub in the Venetian, its amazing.
There is so much in Vegas to do though, you are going to have a blast. But make sure you bring lots of money.
