I think that unlikely,is mostly caused by gfx card and memory getting too hot.
Correct me here if im wrong

I get the same problem even tho my CPU is at low temp. The more i clock it the more artifacts. Could be the voltage :\

I dont have lots, but its not normal. Clocked it a little down, now its all fine. Fuckin strange....

doesnt some thermal paste conduct electricity?? if so you could be bridging pins together etc...

No you CANT have artifacts because of youre CPU or paste on you pins. Smart thing would be to remove paste from pins because youre system can become unstabe. Anyway only way to get artifacts in game are because youre GPU or VRAM. So if you clocked youre card downclock it.See if its overheating. If its overheating put more vents in youre case. If none of things is the issue then youre card is damaged. You should consider replacing it.
