I just couldn't stand HAWX after playing Wings or Prey
I really liked it, but after WoP it was just a pain how simplified Hawx is (and WoP itself isn't as complicated as other flight sims on highest sim settings)
That said, a WoP set in modern times would be fantastic, although I do see it is almost impossible, as dog fighting in modern times is almost nonexistent

I love arcade flying games, was always a huge fan of the Air Combat series ... and HAWX was as close to Air/Ace Combat as we're ever gonna get on the PC. Air Combat, Secret Weapons over Normandy, Crimson Skies and Blazing Angels/Blazing Angels 2 ... epic stuff

I did play Wings of Prey on arcade too though, so I assume there are different degrees of arcadeness.
didn't liked Hawx it was too much conso... the story presentation sucked hard , if it was more like Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation (which was a far better game then this crappy hawx) then i "would" tried to like this game
yeah ACE 6 was the BEST combat sim game to date that was created for the xbox360
today you can play the previous parts on the PS2 emulator... go play them NOW
What's surprising me is that the release date is down for Q3-2010.. so the game must have been in silent development for a while, because I've heard nothing about a sequel.
What is more surprising is they even announced it for release. A while back they said the development of a sequel to HAWX was put into indefinite hold...
Indeed. I used to wish for as much realism as possible back in the golden era of flight sims, with games like Gunship, EF2000, lucasarts flight-sims and many more. Then the ultra realistic games like Falcon 4.0 and Il-2 Sturmovik came where I had to start turning down the realism a lot because I'm not a pilot. Today the technology isn't the limitation anymore but the flight sims are too arcadish again for my liking.
Maybe it's just me that's hard to please, but when you're downing 30-50 planes per mission it's just silly. The original HAWX behaved like an arcade shooter.
This is not a sim, this is arcade..and they want it that way.For me if it's near like first one i will play it for sure.
Yes and that's what I'm dissatisfied with. I'd rather they made a flight-sim to be honest. I might try it nevertheless like I did with the first one, for two hours at least. According to this thread alone it seems many did like it though so I guess they hit a chord with a lot of people. Just not me.
"The most obvious difference from the first game is the presence of takeoffs and landings, including taxiing to the base runway in the first mission; in 2009's HAWX, missions began and ended in the air, with your plane already cruising towards your waypoint. "We want to give you the full experience, from when the pilot gets in the plane to when he gets out again," said Douglas. "In HAWX 1, you spawned in in third-person view in the air, the missions ended that way, you never knew who you were or why you were there."
That fuller, more authentic experience of modern air warfare goes further than runways and landing gear, adding aerial espionage with unmanned aerial vehicles, stealth missions with night raids, and gunship missions to the mix, as well as midair refuelling and precision bombing."
Pitty no adjustable flying models: realistic-moderate-arcade
while gunship missions sounds fun, a lot of the other stuff sounds like its going to slow down the game a bit too much... lets face it, hawx was definately going for bombastic arcade action - frantic and fast and loud... so espionage, stealth, precision bombing... sounds like a pretty radical gameplay shift to me, and i dont know how well thats going to go over with the games obvious target audience - instant gratification arcade focused console gamers....
