I've been reading several Neal Stephenson novels, and several times he has referred to people using sheep or deer guts for fucking. Now, I pride myself on having in my head an extensive collection of sexual maneuvers, innuendos, nasty shit, and penis torture videos. And yet I have never seen the use of sheep or deer intestines.
So, fucking educate me you pricks, this sounds interesting.

I googled but didn't really have much luck other than Paris Hilton being banned off of Fear Factor for trying to have sex with sheep intestines lmao. I thought I've heard it all but this? I dunno....

Well i've read his 'Quicksilver' which means he must be fairly well known otherwise it's highly unlikely anyone else apart from the thread starter would have read it. Although the book itself was distinctly mediocre.
The way he concludes his novels is pathetic, it's as if he's got no concept of the ending when he started it. Every Hugo award winning author pisses all over him.

And I take back what I said about Cryptonomicon being the best I ever read. I like "Noble House" and other James Clavell's books, and Pearl Buck ain't so bad if you got the patience to go through all her stuff and I find all the good novels. |
Ok fair enough, Quicksilver is the only one i've read (although it is 3 shorter novels in one) but it convinced me not to bother with any of his others. If I see Cryptonomicion for a good price while browsing i'll considering getting it now.
So who's your favourite author then?

I really can't decide, so many good books out there. Probably James Clavell, he has a unique writing style that never gets boring, and I've read all of his books (Noble House, Tai-Pan, Gai-Jin, King Rat and more...) so I would very highly recommend him, especially if you are bored.
Also, the man does his research and knows his stuff, so despite the fact that he writes novels, you actually learn a lot about Asian cultures reading him
So, James Clavell is the way to go. He's much more superior to anything Neal Stephenson can put out, Cryptonomicon included.
