Ninja Gaiden Sigma

Published by: *TBA
Developed by: Team Ninja
Genre: Third-Person Action
Release Date:
US: Unreleased
Japan: December 31, 2007

Quote:
Tecmo recently announced that the Ninja Gaiden series would make its PS3 debut with Ninja Gaiden Sigma. According to developers, Sigma will include the entirety of the Xbox versions of Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black, plus a slew of new content with a complete visual overhaul. Everything from character animation and environmental textures will apparently make use of the added horsepower available through the PS3.

While the announcement definitely gets one excited over the possibilities, it would have been nice to play the real deal here on the show floor. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible since developers claim they forgot the playable build next to their mail this morning (yes, really). Regardless, the team did remember to bring a snazzy new trailer to the event and we suppose that's the next best thing. The teaser did a good job of emphasizing the extra work put in to the game too, and it' obvious that it fits nicely alongside other next-generation videogames.

Comments

Thought I'd put up a token thread for this what with there being only a few months till its japanese release, plus the fact that im a huge Ninja Gaiden fan and I know there are others on this board that loved the instant classics that were the Xbox games - to be honest im surprised that no one is raving about this one on these boards because it is without doubt one of the best games ever made.

I'll let the game trailer do the rest of the talking and show PS2 owners what they missed out on first time round - hope they keep the insane difficulty levels btw and although the fanboy in me is screaming for them to have kept Gaiden as an Xbox exclusive the gamer in me yearns for as much people as possible to experience and enjoy what is an outstanding/epic title.

It's not mindless ultra-high speed action. I'll take it from that comment that you're one of the wimpy gamers who couldn't actually finish the game because you found it to be too difficult.

Anyway, it's a great game. The graphics were already very good so playing it in HD will add nothing to the experience IMO. I just wish that they'd move on and make the sequel as opposed to re-releasing the same game over and over again.

Ah, I didn't read the comment prior to yours because that particular user is one of the very few on this site that makes up my ignore list but I echo your comment, anyone thats actually played the game for more than 1 hour and certainly anyone thats completed the game would find the accusation of the game being mindless action not even worthy of a response.

Regarding your point about a proper sequel.....I completely agree, however, my train of thought was that targeted specifically at hardcore Sony gamers and people that weren't willing to give MS' system a chance this title will more than serve its purpose IMO.

I also remember the thread for NG Black on this board, several users including myself although sceptical of a remixed edition loved the game and found it fresh enough to warrant yet another completion some even went through it multiple times it just is that good a game, as I said though it is one of my favourite games so im slightly byast but I would add that as everyone already knows this is a game that has received widespread critical acclaim. If your finding the game too hard chances are that if practice doesn't work "farming" will see you through to the end, the black edition had a "ninja dog" difficulty level that kicked in if you were killed too much on the first level plus there are also some trainers for this game included in those Xbox auto installer discs - personally I say complete the game properly, trainers and playing on the easiest difficulty setting just doesn't offer the same sense of achievement. I've got quite far in the game. It's been a while since I've played it. I killed that woman in the church type building. I've got slightly further than that. I can't remember if the airship was even further on though. I also killed the guy from that too.

no the ship is before. but good work getting that far, i dont see any reason to why you should quit. its not like you gave up at the first boss.

great game, im happy for the ps3 owners that gets to play this game if they have not before. its a masterpiece.

now give us ninja gaiden 2! i couldnt care less about beach volley ball in bikinis games, if i want that i go out during summer.

i wonder what "a slew of new content" means, btw?

edit: actually, did i read somewhere that rachel will be playable, or was that just a dream? Question

Yeah your right Rachel is now going to be playable, there adding a few new chapters into the game so you see the story from her perspective - I wasn't sure myself after seeing the trailer because it was hard to tell what was actual gameplay and what were the cutscenes at some points, Rachel as a playable character has been confirmed by Team Ninja though.

By slew of new content I imagine its going to be new weapons, costumes, moves, some new boss characters were shown in the trailer, theres supposedly an even easier difficulty level which purists will no doubt scoff at, theres combat on the water (if that makes sense), dual katanas, the bow and shruiken are going to be improved and integrated more into combat, apparently you can also unlock some weapons in mission mode which then carry over to the main game then theres the game engine itself, as I said earlier it was hard to pick out actual game footage against some of the cutscenes. You know how Team Ninja work, they tweak things to literal perfection.

Those screenshots won't really do this game any justice in fact they don't look much better than the Xbox screens on Gamespot plus I reduced the size of them significantly to fit on this board - I guess closer to the time of release we'll see something more fitting, depends on what your idea of impressive graphics are though obviously. about the combat on water thing.

i remember the rock n roll producer (cant remember his name) talking about them having it already in the original ninja gaiden, but then taking it away due to time limitations. but he also said it was still possible to run on water in the game, something most of us just dont think to try out, since we are playing hayabusa and not jesus. Smile

to bad its for ps3 only (?), otherwise i would for sure pick this one up. hope they get to work real soon with ninja gaiden 2 if they havent alredy.

hey starshine, you do know that guitar hero 2 will come for x0 as well huh? maybe time to buy one soon. Wink

Yeah, funny thing about the water trick is that the game actually prompts you to try it out at a certain point in the game perhaps only the eagle eyed noticed or you have to be at a certain point to trigger the message?

I posted about that GH news on Pallebruns Guitar Hero thread a week or so ago knowing that someone like yourself who had been reading my Guitar Hero comments and commenting on how good it sounded would be interested in that news - it should be awesome. They can't really mess up the 360 version as the game itself is a simple but addictive concept but what does dissapoint me about the 360 version is the controller itself. I take it they were in bed with MS when they put forward the designs for the controller it looks a little too much like part of an MS suite where as what I would have liked were a more realistic look i.e. wood grain/sunburst effect or even what they did with the PS2 controllers.

Oh and yeah check out that tracklist for GH2 if you haven't done so already, simply amazing.

Could have got a 360 last month Nailbiter but I opted for splashing out around £400 on a dual tft setup for my PC, If they were to confirm some form of Xbox Live multiplayer for GH2 I'd be tempted although the devs already went on record as saying that due to latency at the moment this isn't a possibility. I'll get one in time though perhaps christmas or January if not before then, as I said no hurry still really enjoying the previous gen. Wink

i consider respawning enemies every time u enter & leave the room mindless & annoying, but game was ok over all & try not to be a fanboy it's just childish, world is full of other things than just playing games ya know
btw ignore is useless if someone quoting ignored ones Twisted Evil ,but u can continue your little war that goin on in your head Wink

Thats funny considering it's just an Xbox port with a few bells and whistles added.
