I'll give it a whirl..I didn't like their other attempts but this one sounds more like an uplink clone some ill keep a look out for it...If it turns out anything like uplink-onlink ill put my money down.
I liked having to manually type all the commands via console - it made me feel like "ze l337 hax0r" and added a lot of pressure having to type stuff quickly....this clicky clicky shit shown in the video looks extremely dull. I wish Introversion would make a sequel to Uplink!
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

From what I understand there's a lot more to it than just the clicky shit from the videos (including the console)
I hope that is actually true because if it's just what's shown there and in the beta/demo then I'm not really that interested.
I really wonder why there's not at least some uplink clones. I loved that game.. wouldn't mind more of the same.
Still, I'll give this a chance. Sucks that we have to wait another week to try it out.
Especially so because it was scheduled to release 31st of June and I had it preordered, so another delay now is pissing me off a bit....
-edit-
k just read that they released an updated beta for people who preordered which includes more features like the open world mode with ai hackers. I'll give that a try while I wait.

Report back on that..Those are my main points of interest anyway.
If it's anything like the previous it should be pretty boring. Those games, while still a bit more "challeging" than Uplink are mostly a cakewalk. Gonna check the public beta in a minute.
edit:
that link doesn't work for me.

Tried that beta and it's still underwhelming. Sure, it was only the tutorial level, but the overall feel of it was more like a minigame than a hacker-sandbox like Uplink. Select server, hack one thing, disconnect to avoid trace, connect again, hack another thing, disconnect again, etc. The EMP made me chuckle a bit.
I'll try the final version, maybe the free-play mode will have that certain something, but I'm sceptical.
I never understood why there's a time limit on the levels.
And in this one I have no clue how the trace actually works. I'm not hacking anything not connected to any system at all yet I'm being traced. Yeah... whatever.
Still it doesn't have much of a hacking feel to it.
Anyone remember a game called Dark Signs? Now that was hardcore console based hacking, iIrc.
