played it in a shop didn't like it no AA and it is a gears of war rip off only diffrence is the war setting.

It was released just a few days before GoW, and in some cases at the same time. It ain't no ripoff, just similar in some respect. It doesn't look as good as GoW, but if you put it in perspective:
-Resistance is a launch title
-GoW came one year after the 360 was released
That doesn't really mean anything either, however

Think it's just that the ati graphics hardware in the 360 allows developers to have 4x AA with no cost to overall performance so every game has it as default. Think the PS3 can do it but it musn't be as efficient.

alot of the 360 games don't use it either, and the hardware on the 360 is meant to allow at least 2xAA without any performance hit for free. I think Forza2 running at 60fps with AA enabled wll be a true indication on what the 360 can do, its just a shame not all developers put abit more effot into their coding

to be fair tho nvidia always make great midrange cards and always get their ass handed to them at the high end spectrum these days 6600GT 7600GT all fkin great midrange cards for their time

Finally got round to playing a PS3 today! My Dad bought one and got this game with it! I wasnt totally blown away I have to say. Its a good but not really good first person shooter. The words 'another' and 'generic' kept going through my head. Its nothing the X360 isnt capable of. Even my Dad said it's no Gears of War but quite how anyone can compare the two is beyond me. There are still no games available that make me jealous and want to go out and buy one! Not that a) I can afford one b) afford the games for one c) find time to play one! I barely play the X360 and Wii just lately lol.

It's weird because I just got my hands on a ps3 controller and this game (my bro bought the system) and have totally different impressions, almost the exact opposite. I love how open and blasted to hell the level design is, for a shooter anyways. With gears, I always felt like on rails and claustrophobic in a bunch of generic-feeling locations. And the fact that there are dozens of comrades helpin ya out(gettin blown to smithereens) instead of just 4 or 5 helps the warlike atmosphere. Plus the story for resistance is actually not just about a bunch of moronic grunts blowin' shit up...its no epic movie-worth story of course...but still good for the type of game it is. Anyways maybe my choice is a biiit biased since our 360 blew up before completing the full game, but IMHO resistance blows gears out of the water as far as console shooters go.

While I have yet to play Resistance, I can say this about Gears:
Gears is meant to be as a roller-coaster ride, and it works perfectly in that ride. You're not worried about not being able to take another route, as you're having too goddamn much fun blasting away at the enemies.
Generic locations? That is downright laughable.
Gears of War is all about camaraderie, you follow a small squad that determines the outcome of the war.
And me being the graphics-whore that I am, I must say that Gears of Wars blows Resistance to smithereens. |

haha I knew upstart_69's comment would provoke a response. I have to say that the whole chimera thing is very much quake 4 with the strogg and conversion facility and that those explosive ball things in resistance are very half-life 2! Its still a good game but by no means anything special and for the PS3's first exclusive FPS, its a bit of a disappointment to be quite honest.
