Or you could re-backup your games with the stealth patch properly applied.

gonna install it tonight when i get home from work.
with regards to not powering the dvd drive from ur 360, u can just leave the vid cable out as apparently they cant detect it without that. your box should stay on for about 5 minutes.

Since they work on getting the firmware undetectable, they probably know the best/easiest way to detect if the console is running a custom firmware and that's probably how they know what methods Microsoft will try.

5 minutes is PLENTY of time to read ur fw, before turning it off then back on again, for another 5 minutes. Lots of people on X-S have already done it with this technique.

Dude, I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm just saying if you screw something up with this method, there goes your drive. And this is much more likely to happen this way.

Hmm I don't know what this thing's about but if you have 300-400$ to waste, please tell me so you can paypal it to me. I mean the current situation is very simple, use the banned box for backups singleplayer and buy a core or premium with real games for the rare games you'll be playing on live, this way you truly have 0 risk.

This is far most the safest way to inject ixteme to your dvd drive.....I have done 8 this way and not one has been bricked.....

i think we can safely say the era of playing free on xlive is over, once you get banned youre not gonna buy a new one just to stick ixtreme on there and risk another ban. props to you c4eva for the amazing work you are doing but i feel its just a losing game.

well, what if you have a flashed box and you are yet to be banned.

I have always flashed with my video cable disconnected. Never knew the 360 turned off in 5 minutes...Is that why I was not banned?

What does this have in common with injecting code or flashing firmware? All of previous garyopa's releases worked perfect and were just as "safe" as this one.
I'm talking about the danger of going on Live with this. Chances are, you will get banned....it's not a question of if, but a question of when, that's all. Personally, i love my flashed 360 an am glad i'll never have to touch it again as all the backups work great, I will simply buy a new core 360 and buy those really really rare games which are worth playing on live (forza 2, halo 3, etc).

Strangely I am not banned yet...I go on live every other day with a non-stealth backup in my tray and download a trailer of live, just to see if I get banned.

Are there any report of people getting banned AFTER applying this FW? I.e. are there are reports to suggest it doesnt work?

its too soon to tell, we still dont know how long it takes ms to ban.
youll have to get a new machine and flash it with this firmware and see if it gets banned for a real evidence that the firmware does not work, and this is the only way we can tell that it DOESNT work, we have no way of telling if it does work.

I appriciate that, although i guess for me it can't hurt to flash the new fw anyway. I'm not banned.

i have my own idea about the fw commotion recently in the xbox scene. i do not want to critisize those people but imo they have made a deal with microsoft to ban all modded 360s from the live network in order to receive a way to be able to boot homebrew (in particluar xbmc) in a near futur.
i have to confess that i do not have prove for this but let me give some arguments to defend my 'conspiracy theory' ;-)
> some weeks ago there was a post on x-s's frontpage of bunnie (original xbox hacker) and tmbinc (my greatest idol ever - german hacker who has defeated the ngc and the current wii protection) who have visited redmond to give details on some vulnerability which would allow homebrew on an really outdated kernel (yeah right ;)
> recently various modders have found ways to cheat in popular games like gow on our precious live network which is a real pain in the arse for serious online gamers who do not care as much for their e-penis as those under-aged modders
so in fact i tend to think that microsoft in cooperation with the scene are trying to ban all modded consoles of the live network and in exchange microsoft will allow homebrew in a near futur.
like i said before i am not able to prove this but i really hope this will be true cause i would die for xbmc on a modded 360. ;-) in the worst case scenario we just need 2 consoles, a modded and a normal one
so basically they will make a deal: a mod free live network for homebrew
if they succeed, the above mentioned people are besides their genius hacking capacibilities also genius negotiators ;-)

Microsoft "allowing" homebrew on their console would be suicide!

why? allowing piracy is suicide. come'on they blocked homebrew but everyone is able to play backups. dont let me laugh. they already commit suicide (or maybe they have been murdered already ;-)
i will tell you this. their 1st xbox was a disaster, it wont sell itself until it was fully hacked. if microsoft was into dealing with it then they would have done it. but no, they just have done some minor adjustments in the past cause they knew it was easy to gain some brand publicity
(ms did never remove the LPC to begin with. it wouldnt have defeated the modchips but would definately have made it more and more difficult for a lot of n00bs. they haven't released special dashboard patches to disable the exlpoitable games. you know why? cause it served their needs to set a strong product at that time ;-)
nowadays it is even more important cause they do want to win the next gen war. and they know they always have to be one step futher than sony. i know a lot of people are waiting to step into a next gen console till it has been fully exploited.
