HL source got 2 new things over HL: volumetric shadows (only under characters) and shiny water, everything else is the same. It sucks, don't bother.

The Ford model T was a classic. I wouldn't want to drive one to work every day.

if you are a real valve ass licker (like me, except cs and cs:s), then it's a must

it also features bump mapping and more complex lighting, but textures and characters and everything is the same as in the original.

i hope black mesa gets released some day!

I doubt I would want a car museum and I certainly never banged Mary Fishypants no matter how much I have sympathy for her unfortunate name.

There are several High Definition Packs for Half Life Source that improve the experience even more. I am unsure about posting links here but Google for Half Life Source High Quality Models.

Black Mesa Source is going to be awesome. They have just released some new media. Check out the site.

You should really play HL2 before Episode one. I would recommend all the Half Life games if you have NEVER played them before.

Half Life
Blue Shift
Opposing Force
Half Life 2
Half Life 2 Episode one

Don't listen to all the negative comments. Some members of this forum like to dis Half Life and the Source Engine in particular. The old and the new games in this series were seriously ground-breaking and fun. Just enjoy yourself. That's what gaming is all about right?

dont listen to the negative comments? its true.....valve did a lame job on HL Source. they could have made it look like HL2 but no they were lazy and didnt. so they just added water effects and physics. big whoop.

that would require recoding the whole game and basically re-make the whole thing, oh wait they made HL2 instead Rolling Eyes

Yeah because CS is just a few small maps, with no AI to write. They've released maps for it over a period of time to get the selection it has now, originally there were even fewer.

It's nowhere near the same scale of project as remaking HL1 would have been.

Black Mesa has been in production for 3 years or more. It's not a developer but you get the picture how big the whole project is. And don't forget how much longer HL1 was.

But, I wish they had done a complete remake rather than adding physics and water detail....

Why the h8? HL Source is way better than HL. The graphics are dated and the engine is shit but the game itself is so much better than HL2 or the paltry Episode 1.

The best thing is that Source makes HL playable for me, something about the original version just makes me feel seasick, framerate or resolution I don't know but it does.

Worth £5? Dunno. Worth playing? Definitely.
