Movie Synopsis (could be the same as the netflix series so spoilers!)
Code:
Samantha White is a bi-racial film production major at the fictional Winchester University, a prestigious and predominantly white school. With her sharp tongued and witty radio show Dear White People and her self-published book, Ebony and Ivy, Sam causes a stir among the administration and student body alike, criticizing white people and the racist transgressions at Winchester.
When Sam wins the election for head of house of Armstrong/Parker, the all-black house on campus, tensions rise. In winning the election, she beats her ex-boyfriend Troy Fairbanks, the son of the school's dean. Troy harbors dreams of being a comedic writer rather than a lawyer, but his father prefers that he not give white people a chance to profile him, and will accept nothing less than his best. Coco has an issue with Sam because the reality TV producer she is trying to win over would rather do a show on the witty light-skinned black girl than her. Lionel Higgins, a black gay student, gets a chance at finally finding his place at Winchester by being recruited by the school's most prestigious student paper to write a piece on Sam and the black experience at Winchester. When Kurt, a white student and son of the school's president, and his club come up with a blackface theme for their annual party in response to Sam's outspoken show, black students appear at the party, and a confrontation ensues, leading to a brawl.
Netflix Trailer:
A lot of idiots who have no idea what this is about are up in arms.
Especially the resident favourite
This gay guy
Wrote/Directed the first. Which is good... it's something that's needed today. Especially today. It shows how ignorant some of these righteous people are.
Anyway... the uproar is amazing. This looks fun and the main racist slut cow is hot.
Well, at least they didn't hide the youtube dislike bar
On one hand I can understand the comedic stereotyped tone of it, on the other one though I can't help but wonder whether a specular show called "dear black people" using racial stereotypes disguised as comedy would be given the green light. (rhetorical )
Anyway, regardless of the hypothetical comedic factor, it's not something that I'd like to watch

In the movie they do cover that. It's quite lol. But it being a movie it's a passing moment.
I do hope they go into depth in the show.
The black face thing I'll love to see the reaction on social media. Especially from token POC and resident SJW's.
Is this show anti black? It depicts them as violent savages attacking a party just because it offends them. Like adult children throwing a tantrum, it's implying black people have no self control.

The movie is both...
It shows how sensitive and anti-white some poc are and it shows how racist some white people are. But it centers around a girl who thinks of herself as an upcoming historical figure in the POC movement who ends up seeing that the world isn't black vs white. It's what you make it. pretty much how every liberal cuck is until they live life for a moment.
It talks about how black people hate each other. how there's racism on all spectrums of colour and that no one is really innocent. Especially if you think of yourself as an angel.
That doesn't sound too bad. I guess another reason people are mad at this TV show is one of the creators tweeted "fuck white people", even though he's white himself

the guy on youtube everyone loves and he loves everyone says the same thing and then looked into and the guy isn't listed in the credits. Just on his twitter profile.
Spoiler:
also writer =/= creator.
the sole creator of the premise is an awesome guy. Especially since the whole thing pokes at everyone while giving a real look of the world.
That's why i think something like this is important today. I just hope that since it has more time, it won't pull any punches. And be honest. He's a gay black man, he ain't afraid. He's like milo.
And since a lot of SJW's are rooting for it w/o knowing the premise / original, and 'shitlords' getting all antsy because... WELL WHY ATTACK WHITE PEOPLE!?
Too many ignorant assholes today.
Like the bitch who she doesn't want to breed cause her kids will be white...
And every 'free thinking idiot' who's siding with either it's racist or yess fuck white people....
Dunno, it's the only thing that make me notice it so it must be doing something good.
I guess if people are too reactionary to the title than yeah it's a problem... but more to do with the people. It be nice if they read on past a title before getting outraged. We humans like our clickbaity feels though.
i think the problem is hypocrisy.. on its own the title is not a problem, but the realization that a 'dear black people' headed show with similar content that racially targeted black people would create a mass social media outrage decrying racism, makes the title feel nasty and derogatory.
Don´t see how this can turn out entertaining, if the show is anything like the trailer.
Its almost so bad it´s funny but the stupid part wins, so its not even that.
If what you say is true, WaldoJ, then the trailer was incredibly misleading and actively targeting white people. It may have been their intent (getting free publicity) but it sure bit them in the ass.
The film is mediocre at best, nothing special at all. Will easily be forgotten til next year.
The idiots that are saying this film is great, are idiots.
The idiots saying that this film is racist against white people, are idiots.
