Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

  • Official web page: LINK
  • Developer: EA Games
  • Genre: Adventure, Action
  • Release date: US: June 25, 2007 / Europe & UK: June 28, 2007
  • Story/Description/Features:
    Quote:

In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts and discovers that much of the wizarding community is in denial about the teenager's recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort. The Minister for Magic has decided to teach courses in defensive magic, but this leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the dark forces threatening them. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves "Dumbledore's Army", Harry has taken it upon himself to teach them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead.

With the ability to play multiple characters (including Harry Potter, Dumbledore and Sirius Black) this Harry Potter videogame offers fans the opportunity to wield a wand, explore all around Hogwarts, and experience one of the most exciting and dangerous years in the life of the Boy Who Lived.

    -Discover the real Hogwarts
Explore the Hogwarts from the movie and discover its magical secrets using the gesture-based spell casting system. Talk to the portraits, complete their mission and gain passwords for shortcuts around Hogwarts. The player can interact with everything, gain discovery points and unlock secrets in the Room of Rewards.

    -Recruit Dumbledore's Army
Find and recruit the members of Dumbledore's Army. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix's non-linear gameplay allow the player to choose where they go, what they do and when they do it, in Hogwarts.

    -Go to Hogwarts classes
Complete side-missions for teachers and attend Herbology, Charms, Transfiguration and Potion's classes to earn O.W.L. grades. Achieving "Outstanding" opens secret areas of the castle!!

    -Play Wizard Games
Compete in Exploding Snap, Gobstones and Wizard Chess leagues throughout Hogwarts and beat the best from each house.

-Experience the movie in the game
Play the key moments from movie from the Dementor Attack in Little Whinging to the ferocious battles at the Ministry of Magic. Experience the most authentic-to-the-movie game experience in Harry Potter history: the castle is built from movie blueprints and on-set reference; the actors are head scanned and use their real voices; we have licensed the key Harry Potter music theme.

    -Play other characters
Fly Fred and George out of Hogwarts as they escape Umbridge's regime. Protect Harry as Sirius Black as you confront Bellatrix and Lucius Malfoy in the Ministry of Magic. Play Dumbledore in his momentous final confrontation with Voldemort.

    -Full PC Support
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix fully supports next generation graphics, Windows Vista, control pads and mouse. All controls are fully configurable as our graphics options. PC also includes a downloadable version from EA Link.

85 locations have been added to Hogwarts (Combining the movies, blueprints, J.K. Rowling's drawings and books together to have a better Hogwarts experience), direct from the movie blueprints, along with other important locations such as the Ministry of Magic, Grimmauld Place and Little Whinging

There are 60 missions for the gamer to complete (such as saving innocent students from the hands of Slytherin bullies).

There are multiple moving staircases like in the movies.

After the numerous Harry Potter games I've tried which have disappointed me due to my age, this one actually seems the first one that has a more serious approach to it. We can only wait and see.

The really good thing about this installment is that the developers were serious on it. Their office was close to the movie sets, so they went back over and over and got over 85 detailed locations of Hogwarts just like it was in the movies, as well as parts that were in the books but not shown in the movies as one would expect.

They've also focused on free-roam and non-linearity, which should provide a better experience than the last one where free-roam was limited and most of the game was Point A, do mission there, follow Hermione to Point B, do mission there, etc.

Hot Coffee Mod for 7th book's game installment. Fuck Emma Watson during a hot cup of coffee in the Gryffindor commons. Voyeurism, great. Fuck I'm such a nerd.

Really I don't get why so many of you expect so much of this game. How can it be better? GFX-wise? Yes, it's for next gen. But the gameplay is apparently similar to the previous titles, i.e. boring kiddie crap even if the colours are not as bright.

Yeap but i liked every single game of HP that came out.. its really fun. This will be better im shore.. because this one is more like an RPG, you can explore a big hogwarts, go to class to improve your skill, interact talk with everyone... see the features in my 1st post, this will be the best hp game out believe me, not only because of the GFX..

I was thinking exactly the same when I first saw the announcement, however it seems to be quite interesting after doing some reading around sites.

Let's just wait and see, tis not far.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Wii Review @ IGN

7.8
Good

http://wii.ign.com/articles/798/798713p1.html

"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is my favorite videogame yet based on the ridiculously popular franchise. It is by far the most immersive journey to Hogwarts to date thanks to the realization of a truly enormous, often-beautiful world...."

Video review

http://media.wii.ign.com/media/842/842199/vids_1.html

Looks like this will be a nice HP game..
