I agree, the ass looks strange. Hips are too wide and too low.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

Horrid character models. Olly Moss has a great style for 2D art but not so much for 3D characters. The main character in Firewatch was the same
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Way to damage your brand, Valve. Oh well, if they think this is a good idea, it's already too late for them.

hmm im pretty sure this is how Valve have developed all games outside the halflife series:
Development on Left 4 Dead started in mid-2005.[27] Turtle Rock Studios aimed to create a horror film-inspired game that merges single player games' character-driven narrative structure with multiplayer games' social interaction and high replayability.. Turtle Rock Studios announced Left 4 Dead on November 20, 2006,[28] and was acquired by Valve Corporation on January 10, 2008.
A graduate of DigiPen, Kim Swift and a group of her fellow graduates developed Narbacular Drop, a portal-based game that was later presented to Valve, which led to Gabe Newell personally offering to hire them so that they could create the critically acclaimed game Portal.
Counter-Strike. It was initially released as a modification ("mod") for Half-Life and designed by Minh "Gooseman" Le and Jess "Cliffe" Cliffe before the rights to the game's intellectual property were acquired by Valve Corporation, the developers of Half-Life.
Dota 2, cloning a well established formula created by modders for warcraft3 (even then im pretty sure it was already created / done and dusted in the original starcraft).
Valve havn't done shit in terms of game development outside the halflife series, in the valley of gods must be fairly innovative therefore an aquisition has taken place. Valve are experts in terms of acquiring talented studios and turning near complete projects into massively successful IP's, curious about this game now.

This has been rumored for a month now or so, but it's officially confirmed the game is on hold as the team has joined (mostly) HL: Alyx and other products.

Quote: | To fans looking forward to In the Valley of Gods, it’s probably clear that the optimistic “2019” at the end of the announcement trailer isn’t going to be accurate. In the end, Valve Time makes fools of us all. But yes, developers from the former Campo Santo team have joined other projects at Valve, including Half-Life: Alyx. As you can imagine, our experience in the first-person adventure genre is pretty relevant. You hear a lot about how at Valve you can work on what you want. It turns out that’s true, and there’s a lot of work available. As we integrated ourselves into Valve it became clear there was a lot of valuable work to be done on Half-Life: Alyx. Some of us starting lending a hand, and have since become full-time on the project as it approaches launch. Similarly, some ex-Campos are working on Dota Underlords, some are on Steam, and so on. So to answer your question as of today, In the Valley of Gods development is on hold—but it certainly feels like a project people can and may return to. And when that happens, we’ll find an exciting way to let fans know. |
I also think once you join Valve you are kinda forced to move to Source, so they had to start from scratch on this game, at least engine-wise.

Aside from moving Dota 2 to the engine recently, we are are using it as the foundation of some unannounced products. We also intend to continue to make the Source 2 engine work available to the broad developer community as we go, and to make it available free of charge. |

Damn, didn't know about Campo Soynto's background and affiliation to Scamessian *ding ding, shame on you men*
I actually enjoyed the W-button-sim Firewatch for what it was, though the way its narrative structure unfolded truly was one of the purest examples of virtual unfulfillment.
