Like in the topic: What's the best next-gen console to buy at the time? I personally think about the XBOX360 but I've heared some bad things about it's cooling system and that it has many malfunctions (some sites say that even 33% of XBOX360's are f*cked up :/). So tell me what's the best too buy (on what machine there are many cool games and so on).
Oh, and one more thing: : NO FANBOYS ALLOWED Laughing

At this point I would get the PS3. It is a machine of quality (unlike the 360), and has a big future ahead of it. There are also many new games coming out for it, especially in the fall.

Look up the games for each console and decide after that. But there is fewer and fewer "exclusives" nowadays, most games end up on both (ps3 and 360). I got a 360 because ps3 don't really have any games I want to play at the moment (+ its price). Thou Littlebigplanet(ps3) looks awesome in the future Razz + some others.

depends if u can wait for cool games or want them now. my 360 broke after 2 months, but i fixed it by removing the stupid x-clamps which cause the mainboard to warp under heat. then again the ps3 is a quality looking machine but way above my budget.

Yeah, the price is big for the moment :/. BTW is there any chance (ATM) to boot up a 'backup' on PS3?

You have to put things a bit into perspective concerning the price. With the PS3 you also get a HD movie player. Add the HDD addon to the 360 and you are about into the same price range, but the 360 still doesn't have a wireless connection without you buying a dongle, and other features.

Not trying to persuade you to get a PS3 (I have yet to get one myself), just telling it as it is.

Now if you want to get a PS3, but still can't afford one, I recommend you to wait until late fall/near christmas, the price is bound to drop a bit by then.

Ok, but then the games are expensive Sad. Maybe later there will be a method to play backup games. And (too bad) there is no such thing as game renting in Poland (form a rental, there are none Razz).

My personal experience:

Wii - dusting in a corner
PS3 - dusting in another corner (it looks good thoguh Smile )
360 - played almost every day

In my case, at the present time, I would rather have only the 360 than the other 2!
Plus there is no backup play on ps3, although it really doesn't make a difference because actually there are no games I really want to play on it Wink

once again:
MY personal experience
ON the actual time span
It may change in the future or for other tastes

Too many problems with xbox to recommend it unless you can fix it yourself.

I'd wait!

I've only got the 360, so I can't really say which one is the best. I can, however, say that I am extremely happy with my 360. I've been playing on it regularly for about sx months now since I got it. Just bought myself two new games aswell (Flatout and The Darkness), both which are great fun.
I can easily recommend the 360, though I can't recommend it over the PS3, as I've never tried it.

for me i love my 360, have had no problems at all (although i know they are meant to have high failure rate)... i'm not interested in the wii as i have a gamecube and dont want to exercise whilst playing... would like a ps3 if money was no object but cant justify it when i have 360 and there are no exclusives for ps3 that i cant live without....
all in all a 360 & decent pc are good enough for my next gen needs

The 360 is way ahead at the moment, far more good games out for it. Plus, most games that are out on both consoles are superior on the 360 in terms of performance and visual quality, just read any review of the multi-platform games. Theres just nothing to play on the PS3 that doesn't play better on the 360 at the moment.

The only reason not to get a 360 over a PS3 is like you said the failure rates. The problem is mostly isolated to the launch 360's, and some of the smaller retailers are still selling them. To effectively make the problem a non-issue, just buy it from a chain retailer (e.g. electronics boutique). This way you will probably get a newer model 360 and if you do have any problems you can take it back and get it replaced no problems at all.

I'm on my 3rd 360, yet I've had no problems at all getting a replacement and the last time I did it they made sure I got a newer model. It shows something for the quality of the 360 gaming experience that I still love it despite these failures.

We've had threads like this before, the 360 is always the clear winner in terms of popularity. Maybe you should just try doing a search for one of them? Nothings really changed so they're still relevant.

It's only luck I guess. The 360 has a failure rate of 33%, and in the UK alone there are 2500 defective 360s being delivered for repair each day. On the other hand, the Wii and the PS3 has a failure rate of 1%.

The 360 has more games currently, true, but then again it is 1 year older than the PS3. As I said, a lot more games are coming to the PS3 this fall and onwards.

Of course the choice is yours what you want to go with. I have had a 360 for almost a year now, and I am lusting more for the PS3 now.

IF you are backing Blu-ray, buy a PS3. IF you want to play games, buy a 360.

I have 3 360s in my house, 2 of which get daily use (Mine and my roomates) and i have had zero failures. You have to take into account that many people had multiple failures, and many have had none. Im not discounting the failures, but there are environmental issues that need to be looked at.

Also fanboy will blow any sence of true measurment, becasue of there biased adjenda.

Presently the 360 has a great lineup, and every multi console game is hands down better on the 360. Lighting, framerate etc. The PS3 is not as powerful as it was hyped. ITs not a future proof system, this is Sonys Idea of damage control and spin. Fanboys can argue all they want, but the PS3 is showing its the underpowered nextgen system.

Also all new 360s including the elite have either minor cooling or warping patches added, like the glue on the elites, or they have the new cooling system.

And dont discount the 360 becasue it broke first. Sony still hold the record for most console dead, and there were lawsuits about the failure rates on the PS2. I went through 3 Ps1s and 3 PS2s.

And yes, im biased towards the 360. I am also biased towards HD-DVD. Im not going to hide behind the i own both bullshit.

And FYI, the 33% failure rate was taken from a market survey, not any offical MS or retailer figures.

No, it it based on retailer estimations.

If you're a hardcore movie fan Smile then the ps3 is for you. Otherwise, get a 360, it's really that simple.

Oh.. also the ps3 is kitted out to be the entertainment hub from the get go. But still, if it's games you're after...

Xbox 360 hands down at the moment for me. I have all three, i dont care for the wii so i only use that to play wii sports now and then with the GF. PS3 has potential in the future, im sure we will see some stand out first party titles. Its also a no brainer if you want blueray playback, but I couldnt imagine having it for gaming over the 360. The failures do suck, im not sure what the latest batch of 360s are like but worst comes to worse the xclamp replacement is easy. Ive done 6 or 7 and only 1 wouldn't come back to life.

360. Why worry about failures that might not happen? I've got two 360's used both every day for a year now, no failures.
360 is getting every game that you can think of plus some more. PS3 is playing catchup, and the games are merely ports of 360 games not taking advantage of PS3 hardware.
If PS3 had some decent games I would buy one as well but for now and the forseeable future 360 is in the lead gameswise.

PS3 and X360 have more or less the same graphics. On one of them you can play backups on the other you can't. The one where you can play backups costs half the price of the other console. I think that answers this question.

Ummm, What? Just becasue your a fanboy, dont give yourself the credit that i was directing anything at you. If you took it personally, well thats your issue, not mine.

I hate what Sony did to the PS3, becasue i was a huge Sony fanboy, just ask anyone in the handheld sections. I rant, becasue of my distaste for Sony, well distaste for how they ruined what could have been the best nextgen console, by turning it into a Blu-ray trojen horse, with lackluster gaming support.

I have an Xbox, a PS2 and an Xbox360... the one I use the least is the 360. There are so few games worth playing on that console that I don't feel it was worth buying, even with a firmware hack. It's also very loud for a game console, much louder than my PC.
It's been sitting here in my room collecting dust for months. I play a game occasionally but it's only once every few months that a good game comes out.

Although I'm not too well informed on the PS3, I doubt there are many good games on it yet either.
I would suggest not buying either one of those consoles. Instead, save your money and decide in a year or two when some really great games are out, the consoles are cheaper and manufactured better, and maybe real modchips are out, if that is what you want.

hey paralaxx (fanboy) could you list some of these "coming this year" amazing games that will be out exclusively on PS3? And please dont say Killzone hahahah

Also on the comment of all the shit u get with a ps3 when u pay 700$, yea thats all nice, the part that is way better with 360 is that you are given a choice. I am really suprised that there are still people that are stupid enough to defend the PieceofShit3 ...
