Sony and Square Enix have been served a class action lawsuit over issues with the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIII.
The suit claims that the game freezes and in some cases 'bricks' the console, rendering it useless, with neither Sony or Square Enix accepting responsibility for the issue.
"Both Defendants are eminently aware of the damage being cause by their defective products, and have chosen to do nothing about it," alleges the lawsuit, uncovered by consumer site IGN.
The suit is seeking $5 million in damages for the suit which represents over 100 users in the US. |

sony was sued over removal of other OS.
This is nothing new. Bunch of whiny little brats who don't know how to use a console will sue.
I remember back in the day when Dead Rising came out and people were playing on regular SD televisions. They got so upset and furious.

I dont know anything about the PS3 but is there a failure problem or overheating issue with these? I could see them playing it so much their system overheats in a crappy location or something. Not entirely sure how a GAME could brick a PS3.

you get frustrated that the tits never pop out of the screen that you end up jizzing all over the fan and it encrust and freezes.
It's all enix's fault. Why would they create characters with such epic boobs and not show them?

today there was 3 games that could brick your PS3 (even a slim) : MGS4 , Uncharted 1 and 2
those games use 100% of the ps3 cpu , sometimes the CPU overheats and it goes to black, first your fan will go crazy and then your game will hard freeze... on the fats after you restart the console it goes to YLOD and on the slims it does the 4 green blinks of the power light and the console turns off
but after your consoles cools of they should work ... or don't and you need a re-flow
and now the scary part , ps3 like 360 uses a lead free solder so after few situations like this your console is hard bricked ... and only a solder re-flow can rescue it
same thing like with the 360

lol it's obvious they just wanted to get away easily and settle for less than $5mil before court because Sony/Enix wouldn't want such anti-advertisement. but i guess it's too late now, should've done it a week after the EU/US sales started.
Today I didn't even need to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day. (c) - Ice Cube

@SpykeZ
Uncharted 1 and 2 the vanilla versions did that , the patched versions have lowered details and lod to solve the problem
its like with Bully on th 360 and with GTA4 (lod lowered in patch)
oh and Uncharted is the first game ever that you can finger point , the after and before you patched it they even disabled some effects to make this game stable ... thank sony you can disable those patches at any time ... not like on the 360 when the Maintenance Mode deletes all of them
dunno about MG4 but there where some patches that fixed the performance

Ya know I don't play my PS3 a whole lot. It's probably seen less than a couple hundred hours of use since it was bought but I noticed while playing Uncharted 1 and 2 that it locked up pretty often. I figured it was overheating but didn't look further into it.
I don't hardly see how you can blame a game for fucking up your console though. That would be the fault of the people that designed the console and the person using it, my opinion at least. At some point the console manufacturer would need to step up and accept responsibility. How hard would it be for them to have put a simple rheostat on the 360 and PS3, or have the ability in the system options to set your fan preferences. That way the user accepts more responsibility, especially those that want super quiet systems. My 360 is pretty loud now that the fans run off 12v but it never gets hot anymore. I let it run for hours at a time and i've never had an issue with it.
