Looks really cool. Another game of NIS, creator of Disgaea and Co.
Should be out tomorrow (25th). Can't wait to try this!

played it for a bit now.
story is interesting enough. basically there's this guy with godly powers who was on earth 200 years ago and he summoned some uber monsters that killed almost everyone on the planet.
he was defeated and sealed into a sword. and now you get ahold of that sword and that god (he's called gig) wants to take control over your body. you're supposed to use his power to defeat those monsters he summoned as they are still around and are supposedly responsible for much destruction lately, although noone is sure about wether or not those monsters are actually responsible for that. could be something else.

he talks with you a lot and the dialogue is hilarious. the voice actors from previews NIS games return here and I think the voice acting is pretty good.

the graphics are NIS style, so 2d sprites for characters. I like it as it is.

the game is very different from disgaea & co.
you run around on a map from point A to point B and fight on the way with lots of dialogue inbetween.
the combat itself is probably the most dramatic change.
you got small planes of 3x3 squares with specific spots where you can place characters on.
there's the front row, middle and back. you'll want to put melee characters in front obviously, and guys you want to be safe in the back (healers and mages for example).

so in battle each of those planes that you filled with characters becomes a team with a leader. and you move them around on a battlefield and decide who you want to attack and which skills to use.
once you moved into position and attack someone the combat is automatic. your team attacks, the enemy counters (if he is able to)
each of your units within your teams will use specific abilities depending on where they are in the 3x3 space that you set up earlier.
a soldier for example will attack with his sword if he is in the front row, and will throw a stone or whatever if he's in the middle, and can't do anything if he's in the back.

as the game progresses you get to have more teams. you begin with just one and I'm now about 1.5 hours into the game and can use up to 3 teams in battle.

I like it a lot and I'm sure everyone who liked previous NIS games should definitely check it out.
can't say too much about how deep the storyline is at this point. maybe the story up until now was just a pretext to let you kill stuff and there's not much more coming. who knows

the combat is different but still good, though atm I dont see a way to powerlevel my chars(I liked that the most in the NIS games) yet and no FAQs @ gamefaqs, wth Sad
But I'm only ~2h into the game so I hope there is lots of cool stuff I havn't seen yet.

I love the story and the concept of this game. but absolutely loathe the ridiculous looking chars.. I mean look at the pic on this page and that tells you it all.. but if you can overlook that.. then its great..

been playing this for about 20 hours now. I like it a lot, pretty cool story, interesting characters, and a lot of fun stuff to do.

the combat isn't as much fun as I was hoping it would be though. I would have prefered traditional Makai style combat as in disgaea, la pucelle etc.
Personally I don't mind all those NIS games having pretty much the same combat because it's just totally awesome and they shouldnt try to fix what isn't broken.

the whole gameplay feels somewhat inferior to that of disgaea&co but it's a lot of fun anyway.
plus Gig is like one of the coolest characters I've ever seen in a game. lol

Likot Mosuskekim, Woodcutter cancels Sleep: Interrupted by Elephant.

yeah I can agree to all that
I'm through the main story and playing the demon path now (pretty cool)
though it's true in the other NIS games there is much more to do after the main game
