Anyone with a 8800GTX, can you tell me your idle temperature for the card?

It's sitting on 68(!) for me, and I am worried.
Tell me your temps, and how your performance is...

Lately I've been trying to play the new harry potter for example, and it's on like 15-25 FPS TOPS, goes lower, my rig:

Core 2 Duo 2.40GHz
2GB of Corsair RAM
Around 600 gigs of 7200rpm HDD's (WD's)
A thermaltake shark case.
the E-VGA 8800GTX 768MB.

Thanks.

EDIT: Also, what software do you use to monitor your temps, I'm using NVIDIA MonitorView.

RivaTuner shows Core Temperature 64C, Ambient 53C.

gotta say, sure sounds weird ur getting such low fps... your specs dont seem too different from mine

Yer temps should be fine...unless yer load temp gets up around 90 or something. Mine idles at about 60 and gets up to 75 when running atitool(about the most intensive gfx hog out there). Google ATItool and run that for 5-10 mins and if yer temps get past 90 or so and/or it finds any artifacts, you might have probs. But the g80s are meant to run hot so even mid 80s is norm.

However yer fps sucks. I'd recommend either a total reinstall or running drivercleaner and clean installing the newest nvidia drivers.

Max temp was 83c, ran for 15 minutes. (What was that thing doing anyway?!)
I know that the performance I'm getting sucks hard, I hope a driverclean will fix it.
I've always kept tabs on my performance and FPS in games I play...and this has been like this ever since I got the new rig.

Company of Heroes for example would run fine max on 1024res when viewing top-down, but when I panned the camera to get a horizontal view I'd get a drop to like 25-30.
I don't think it has anything to do with drivers or a windows installation, but I'll try...

Have any of you ever run the 3dmark tests? I know many people don't believe in that sort of benchmark, but it is still a good comparison media.

EDIT: Now that I think about it...if your load is 75 and mine is 83, think about it, 8c difference is ALOT.

Do you use the stock cooler?

Well I did a full clean reinstall of my drivers, still nothing.
I even tried to set that stupid Potter game to Speed settings and it ran at the exact same FPS.

I've been having some trouble with Overlord too, which is a game I actually do CARE about...it's not running abysmal, but I don't think it gets over 30fps...wth is going on.

Stock cooling-at the moment. My case is IMHO one of the best thermally designed cases available. I have 2 120mm intakes and 1 120mm and 1 200mm outake fans. And I keep all my cables nice and tidy so no restrictions in airflow.

But maxing out at 83 is quite good actually. I've read some ppl actually idle around that temp, believe it or not. You should have nothing to worry about.

And I ran 3dmarks quite awhile ago, havent bothered upgrading to the latest patch or whatever or running since I reinstalled. Last time i got somewhere near 9500. I'm sure I could squeeze more but I am not obsessed over it like others.

You should be getting better fps in coh tho. I run it 19x12 with most the dx10 effects cranked up and still get above 20fps. On dx9 mode it never dipped below 45 or so.

When I used FRAPS, it showed 70 FPS in HP...wtf, It's jaggie as fuck.
In Overlord, it showed a mysterious CONSTANT 30, never moved from 30, and well...I guess it looked kinda like 30.

EDIT: NVM Overlord, it's capped at 30...ffs.

isnt overlord only capped at 30 if the game decides your rig cant manage a bare minimum of 60fps at all times.... if it drops below 60 then it drops frame limiter to 30.... sure ive read that in other overlord threads on nf

I think it's simply a fucked up card, it's always been like this, but I've never seen constant 80's in my LIFE...

I get what's going on...the fan has been 100% on my RivaTuner.
Since I've changed drivers, RivaTuner needs to be tuned again, when I did, it got back to 68 idle, but I can't KILL MY FAN...

So I'll lower back to fixed, show it to the motherfucking store, and get a fucking replacement (sorry for all the swear Razz)
