anything can be made into a game these days, but with what your saying, u seem to suggest that if they made a game based on the bible it would only be to coincide with the passion of the christ.

Yes and no. In most if not all cases you need a little something called rights to make it.

Wrong assumption. I am only talking about the specific case of Beowulf. So I gotta ask again, if the two Beowulf movies did not exists, do you think this game would? I didn't think so either..
i dont think there are any rights to something like beowulf, considering the nature of its existence. there certainly aren't any rights to the bible.
and i would assume a game of beowulf would be made sooner or later if there was a film or not, the gaming industry is just as interested in making money as the film industry, so any idea they dont have to come up with themselves is a bonus.

Finally a game that will feel and looks like "RUNE"
God this game looks good. Not the best but good. I loved rune though I got sick of fighting bugs and weird turtle crab looking creatures. Might actually reinstall it if I can get it to work again lol
Anyway, Ubisoft is bringing out the game based on the movie based on the epic poem this November. It's a third-person action title that's been in development since early 2006 at Ubisoft's Tiwak development house, the folks that put together Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. Beowulf the game is running on GRAW's YETI engine, though obviously has a different art style, and apparently uses a number of assets being implemented in Robert Zemeckis' all-digital film. We briefly saw Beowulf running on an Xbox 360 at E3 2007 in Santa Monica, California.
I'm hoping the first post was right that we have a different developer than the xbox cause UBI Shanghai is doing the xbox360 version

i remember rune! that game kicked fricken ass. i hope this is like it, but probably wont be... it'll be another movie promotion tool rather than a full on excellent game that can stand by itself... when will they learn that gaming is as big as movies, and if only theyd put TIME into making a GREAT game rather than a piece of advertising, theyd be surprised with the results.
Don't know if that was supposed to be laced with sarcasm or not, but its a typo - Taiwan.
So basically, they've taken a Olde English legend and gave it to an Asian studio to make a game out of....fucking brilliant Ubi! I'm sure they'll get it right............maybe......NO.
Stick to fries and running away Ubi...that's all yer good for ya corporate fucks.

i hate the gamers opinions today they allways say that i look like a *insert game here* and not saying they true feelings about it
this one is not directed and you Spyke , only hate those things its like every game was similar to other but with changed theme but thats not the point , Its called genre . The point of it is that when someone will say "it looked like gagaga" the other will say "Gagaga it was crap then this game will be crap too" .
Its like when "Die by the Sword" came every other game was measured by the players by it , then came "Rune" , then "Blade of Darkness" and now we stopped at "God of War"
Just a little clarification about the developer's name and history, for anyone curious:
In 2000, a bunch of the key Ubisoft staff in Montpellier, France who had worked on Rayman 1 and 2 decided to jump ship and form their own studio named Yeti Interactive, and in 2002, they changed their name to Tiwak (which doesn't mean anything, as far as I know). They spent their first few years of business years working on a game named Tork: Prehistoric Punk, which was set to be published by Microsoft for the Xbox. The game was delayed a lot, and eventually, MS dropped the title and any ties to Tiwak (around this time, MS also dropped Psychonauts, which they were the original publishers for, but of course, it was picked up by Majesco). Not long after, Tiwak was, somewhat ironically, purchased by Ubisoft, who finally published Tork in 2005 (about 3 years late, and to pretty much zero fanfare). Following the acquisition by their old bosses, they were renamed to Ubisoft Tiwak. They then developed GRAW for Xbox 360, and are now working on the next-gen versions of Beowulf.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to the game, and the movie. As long as I can hack up some beasts, hey, it's a good time, and that's all that matters. Plus, with the talent behind the old Raymans and GRAW involved, I think that's a good pedigree.
Also, those screenshots linked in the first post are for some completely different game called "Beowulf" which is being made by the developers of The Guild, who are probably just trying to ride on the wave that the movie is going to generate. Remember, the game based on the upcoming movie is technically and specifically called "Beowulf: The Game," I suppose to differentiate it from any other game called Beowulf. Here's some screenshots and art of the game this thread is actually talking about:
