Soul Saga is an anime styled RPG inspired by JRPG classics from the Playstation era like Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Suikoden, and Persona. Soul Saga: Episode 1 follows the story of Mithos, a young man ready to become the strongest Guild Master in the world. To reach his dream, Mithos is starting a Guild and setting off to destroy the most powerful being known to history: the World Eater. But Mithos has caught the attention of Garen, a tyrannical leader of one of the world's strongest guilds. Garen secretly has his eyes set on enslaving the World Eater and using it to rule the world, and he won't let Mithos ruin his plans.

The story kind of sounds a bit like Karol's sub-plot from Tales of Vesperia. And the world below bit - wonder if there will be a dash of Skies of Arcadia mixed in?

Not really digging the cel-shaded 3D. The player character models especially looked pretty ugly. I liked the in-character pitch though. More Kickstarters should do that sort of thing instead of having the devs give terrible pitches.

Yes please! We get far too few jRPGs on the PC, ones that aren't made in RPGMaker or XNA at least, so yessir; sign me up!

Just so you know, after this had a successful Kickstarter last year it is now in beta status for backers. They just put out Beta v2 and they're working on a new combat demo ... though it's a good while out before release. Sadly almost all development information is posted exclusively to their DisasterCake forum and that is locked behind a backer-only key :\

Soul Saga will be ready by July 2018! July of this year will mark Soul Saga's Kickstarter's 5th anniversary and it's a conveniently appropriate time to finally get you the humble JRPG I've been working on for so long. Information regarding console porting will come after fan feedback has been applied to the Desktop version of Soul Saga.
