Theatre of War

    Official web page: LINK
    Publisher: Battlefront.com
    Developer: 1C Company
    Genre: 3D Strategy
Release date: Probably beginning of March
    Story/Description:
    Quote:

Theatre of War delivers the ultimate tactical conflict experience capturing the cunning, passion and realism of being responsible for a combined tactical force during some of histories most dramatic and intense battles.

From the invasion of Poland and France in 1939-40, through to the D-Day landings of 1944, to the fall of Germany in 1945, take control of Allied or Axis armies chosen from ten nationalities including American, British, French, Russian or German.

Commanding a wide range of military units, complete with authentic uniforms, weapons, vehicles and planes draws the player into a realistic and accurately recreated military environment of Europe from 1939-45.

Theatre of War captures not only the tactics and strategy of war but also the emotions of being a battlefield Commander in WWII through realistic and personally intense detail. Being responsible for the men in your unit and the bond that develops between veterans as campaigns progress is important and plays an integral part in the behavior of the unit. As a commander of a band of soldiers, each with their own skills, abilities, identities and personalities, players will be able to zoom down to the battlefield and identify what individual soldiers are thinking and feeling.

    Multiplayer: Internet / local network
    System requirements: Windows / Direct3D
    Protection: N/A
    Multilanguage: N/A
    Screenshots: GAMESPOT
    Trailer: GAME TRAILERS

Looks like this title is finally closing for a release in early March. I thought this one was gonna be added to the list of "vaporware" but checking the latest news on www.battlefront.com

Recent Realism and Game Enhancements and new Screenshot Gallery

Developer 1C Company and publisher Battlefront.com are thrilled to announce that the wait for Theatre of War is almost at an end! After months of additional work and development using the combined expertise of the makers of IL-2 Sturmovik and the creators of the Combat Mission series, Theatre of War is nearly ready for the international release by Battlefront.com.

The amount of significant changes, tweaks and new game options that have gone in recently is staggering. The Game Features and AAR's page has been updated with a listing of many of these game enhancements, realism improvements and tweaks.

Not the latest in game graphics but i am sure this game is going to appeal to a lot of ppl that are in to WWII Strat/Sim games.

I found out this game will use eLicense, which is what Battlefront use for its games. There will be no online cd key check or anything like that, but to actually play even single the game it wil have activation.

Here is the topic on this:

http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=63;t=000585

Further, FAQ on eLicense: http://www.battlefront.com/elicense_faq.html

Hmmm....

Battlefront arent exactly known for killer graphics, gameplay on the other hand are usually incredible. Combat Mission is a good example.

there's no question of taste with wargames. it's either awesomely deep and very playable or mediocre at best. and I trust those few reviewers that were disappointed with the game.

and yes, I say that about 95% of russian games because I get to see them earlier and unfortunately they ARE bad or mediocre.
