I don't know much about Sony Ericsson, i have a program to provide the codes, but in the SE section there's no model (unlike Nokia), just Sony CMD-C1/CD-5

The program's name is Code Calculator by CyberGSM v5.4

Yes, it has a list by countries, each country with it's operators, for Slovakia it has Globtel GSM and Eurotel GSM, it uses this list to calculate some MCC+MDC code required to provide the unlock code

is it worth unlocking your own phone, or paying $15-20 to have someone do it?

Most nokias and a bunch of other models are worth unlocking with software like CodeCalculator, as for Motorolas and some Nokias DCT4 and newer models it's best to have them unlocked by someone who knows what he's doing.

You can fry a Motorola if you get things wrong.

I know a guy that makes his living out of unlocking cellphones, when he got "famous", in a short period of time he bought a flat and a new car.

As far as I know most Sony Ericsson phones requires a flash of the software to remove locks. Nokia on the other hand often requires the code only.

glad that they are forcing them to allow this, although unlocking fixes the problem without the FCC.

Canada is even more pathetic when it comes to cell phones. I mean, look at this fucking bullshit:

what good is a fancy phone when you can't afford to even use it? Neutral
