|
 |
I searched everywhere for the answer to this, and I couldn't find anything:
Every time I try to run youtube or similar sites in full screen, regardless of flash version (default or newest), OS (XP or vista), CPU affinity, etc. the video's framerate drops to around 6fps when it goes fullscreen, the only solution being to turn the quality to "low", an unpleasant process with youtube.
If I had a pentium 3 with 128mb SD-RAM, a built in graphics card and a hookup of 4 1600x1200 monitors combined into a single screen, I'd find this understandable. However, here's my spec, and I'm hoping someone can make the reason this happens, and/or a possible solution, clear to me:
Intel Core 2 Duo 7200 CPU (2 x 2.00GHz)
1GB DDR in dual channel
Nvidia 7900GS/256MB
1920x1200 screen res. on laptop display.
Vista/Firefox 2
I'm not sure if the dual core factor plays a role, but I've messed around with the priorities on my CPU, the affinity being set to both cores it usually loads core 1 to ~80% and core 2 to ~30%, with affinity set to one it plays even slower.
I understand flv isn't very optimized, but I think with my connection and my computer, I shouldn't have these issues.
P.S. This is an flv issue. Stage6 (Divx streaming) is flawless.
Thanks.

it's not codec related as flash does NOT use codecs
it's a raw performance issue
flash is SHIT
it's the worst idea ever to try render large full color video and then do software interpolation on it
it's beyond ridiculous
just download the video and watch with a proper player
even the interpolation quality is watchable then
