|
 |
So, yeah, in the mood for awesome looking strategy games...
AoE3 (+exps) look fantastic (especially for a 2005 game), but gameplay is a bit ...
Wathammer Mark of Chaos is nice looking game, but it gets old really fast.
WiC
Anno 1701 was fantastic...
What else?
Before you say Supreme Commander, please bang your head on the nearest wall and look at it again, now you might notice it's "meh."

I miss the good old days when strategy games looked good enough to make a point, but not sluggish and annoying to play. (Yes I AM talking about performance)
The guys doing C&C still know how to make a decently optimized yet good looking game...Supreme Commander was, and still is one of the best concepts I've ever seen, but I always wished it would run a little faster; on settings a little higher than what I could use, same goes for CoH and especially World in Conflict, that thing had my PC pukin' blood.
Blame! don't act!

World in Conflict eats everything alive, both in gfx and optimization.

| Yeah. Otherwise I have found World in Conflict gameplay quickly boring.
@ Leo
Tried Anno 1701's expansion pack (the sunken dragon)?

Dawn of War?
8 out of 10 dentists prefer zipfero to competing brands(fraich3 and Mutantius)!

No yet, still haven't found a proper working DT Pro release. Haven't looked that hard either.

Opposing fronts + DX10 = win
I'm eagerly waiting for Dawn of War II too! The Force Commander in the official trailer looks badass.

Had however a tiresome install process:
Spoiler: | - Unpack.
- Uninstall All applications like deamon-tools, blindwrite, alcohol
- Install Deamon-Tools Pro Advanced
- Open Deamon-Tools Pro advanced and go to tab "Tools" and then click on "Virtual device manager." In here disable the SCSI adapter and enable the IDE adapter.
- Add 1 virtual IDE drive and make sure you don't have any other virtual drives.
- Reboot your computer.
- Install original "Anno 1701" game.
- Mount the pro-antsd.mds file in this virtual IDE drive.
- Install
- Play! |

It's sad to see what passes as "strategy games" these days =/
Strategy-light, maybe.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

It's not that bad either in the gameplay department, just don't expect it to have the depth or the Total War series.

Cheers, found a working DT Pro, so gonna test the expansion today. |
You don't need any of that, it simply works with DT Lite.
Another cute looking with good gfx RTS game, imo, is Settlers 6.
