|

I was going along, trying to play GTA IV with its vehicles when suddenly I realised how much fun fighting in vehicles together with other people was.
So I was wondering, can any of you recommend any games that best capture the spirit of Iwo Jima from Battlefield 1942, with a moderate population and decent graphics?
Thanks in advance.

There are a few I could think of, but names are not popping in my head right now.

Try the Forgotten Hope mod for BF1942 (final version is 0.7).
It has a lot of maps, also a lot of good community based mappacks can be found.
It's like your playing (sort of) Call of Duty 2 in larger maps with authentic vehicles and with more realism.
This is what BF1942 had to be from the first place.

The only game that I ever truly enjoyed after 1942 ( I hated all the other ones ) is quake wars. I plan on buying it now, I wouldn't for the longest time cause it had punkbuster but eh, I miss the fun times I had on it.

Yeah, BF1942 is one of the best online games for me. When the demo first came out I was so amazed I couldn't stop playing for 24 hours straight. 64 players, great looks (for that time), vehicles. Every aspect of the game just worked, it was truly a revolutionary online game.
I own every single Battlefield title for the PC except booster packs

I never did get the flying down every time I tried I failed haha. I bought it the week it came out, was so god damn addicting. First time I had a friend play he was running at some road and a jeep with enemies came buy and he fired off his sniper and hit the guy in the head without being zoomed in or anything, just ran fired prematurely and nailed the guy, his first kill ever and he didn't even play PC games.

It's definitely no BF1942, but I'm enjoying myself with 'Savage 2' a lot until I can find something better. Amazing game, and it's free to play now. The paid account (10 usd) receive very little actual in gamel benefits, mostly fluff (stat tracking, etc.)

Savage 2 is an awesome game but due to its very nature it didn't get the love or community it deserved.
