A couple of months ago the Wiinja Deluxe was the chip to have (it's rumoured the Wiid is a Wiinja Deluxe clone). Looks like Wiikey have finally released an update but they've been taking the p*ss so much with the lack of GCOS support until now that loads of the Wiikey lovers now hate it..

Might be something new by now tho, but they're all drive-chips anyway..

WiiKey is the most popular one. They nearly all do the same thing anyway...

Personally I have a WiiKey and have not had a single problem outside the 2 or 3 Gamecube games that don't run (which is being fixed soon anyways, or you can fix it right now with the beta update).

Runs Wii backups just fine.

Wii rules. only next-gen console with a modchip Smile
Personally I'd also suggest the Wiikey but if you can get a different one much cheaper then it shouldn't be too problematic, unless you're looking for some specific functionality.

but if all you need is beeing able to play backups then any real modchip should be fine.

Its not a mod chip, its a drive chip Wink... Also, you can get a drive chip for the Xbox360 as well Wink

I paid a guy to chip my Wii with the Yaosm chip. Seems to work fine thus far.
Although I can't get Brunswick Pro Bowling (NTSC) to run om my PAL Wii. Dunno if there's something you have to do, some program you have to run or if it just plain don't work at all. Pretty fresh at this Wii thingy.

Don't even know anything about all those home made programs that seems to exist for the Wii. How you get them to run etc.

Wii is same gen as the PS2, and PS2 has real modchips so PS2 wins.

Only X360 and PS3 are real next-gen , wii is still last gen.

Doesn't work on PAL consoles with any chip. It's a shame that so many NTSC titles are like this..

Don't know much about a homebrew scene for Wii. I'm guessing you can get old gamecube homebrew to work tho Smile

Also wtf is 'next-gen' anyway? Who defined it? As someone said next-gen is the present. You could argue the wiimote is more of a revolution than the graphics of the ps3/360 which were already present on PC..

nah, wii is same generation as ps3 and xbox360. it doesn't have anything to do with the power of the hardware inside the console.

Who gives a shit?

Thanks a lot suicid4l. Smile Thought there were something wrong with my console, due to updating it with a NTSC version of Paper Mario. Apperently something you shouldn't do if you have an old not updated Wii, or so I read on other forums after I had run Paper Mario (my was already "officially" updated though).

Cool, thanks! Very Happy

By the way. I downloaded a PAL version of Zelda, but when I unrar it it says "Zelda.wii"..??
Just rename it to Zelda.iso, or something special?
Just have 3 more blank dvd:s here, so would hate to experiment and waste a blank one. :/

you need to unscramble it first. You can do that with RAWDump. The prog makes it too .iso

Apparently the game is a load of Crap and a waste of time downloading... But Some say its worth the download just so you can say "I have played the crappest game on the Wii"

Wink
