Even though it's releasing next year, Midnight Club: L.A. is already impressive.
The Rockstar reps blasted through the neon-drenched streets of the Sunset Strip, screaming through hairpin turns at top speed. As the Lamborghini Gallardo Roadster screeched around one particularly tight corner, the camera perspective automatically swung out to a wide cinematic angle, adding to the sensation of speed. Then, when the driver activated his nitrous boost, the camera shifted again to hug the driver's side of the Roadster as it plowed down a narrow street. Again, the effect was highly cinematic, making the game look more like a high-speed chase movie than a video game.
Raw speed and cinematic flair-that's pretty much Midnight Club: Los Angeles in a nutshell. Though the game features many improvements to its predecessors, our first glimpse of the game only reinforced the claim that the Midnight Club series is one of the fastest, most adrenaline-soaked racers on the market. And in early 2008, it's coming to both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with a new-gen sheen.
Speed Thrills
We saw an early version of Midnight Club: L.A. running on an Xbox 360 development kit. There were a few minor rough edges in the presentation, but the in-game graphics already looked remarkably polished. The licensed cars were superbly detailed, with Rockstar reps claiming over 100,000 polygons per car. Cars are painted with highly realistic-looking textures that show off the metallic flakes embedded in the paint job, giving everything a glossy but realistic sheen.
Similarly, the open-world racetracks pop with GTA-like details, such as well-known L.A. landmarks (the Tower Records and Carney's burgers on the Sunset Strip), realistic billboards (we spotted iPod and Dolce & Gabbana ads) and re-imagined road layouts that will accommodate the high-octane races Midnight Club is famous for. It's built on Grand Theft Auto IV's RAGE technology, which is adept at packing tremendous visual detail into huge, open-world environments-a tricky combination for other game engines, but one that RAGE handles easily.
Rockstar San Diego is focused on minimizing boring tasks like menus and load screens, thus keeping the player firmly in the race at all times. Even the map screen is handled entirely within the game engine; the camera swoops out dramatically to show an overhead view of the streets of Los Angeles, then zooms back in to focus on your car. Also, you won't have to beat specific races to proceed in the game. Instead, you'll score Reputation points by participating (and placing) in various races throughout L.A., which should lower the entry barrier and reduce frustration.
still playing TDU tho, so MCLA will bring alot of new stuff, like day/weather change, not only uber expensive cars, but also some japanese cars and maybe harleys
besides it loox awesome

Yep, i do
And the graphics are the thing that comes second, or maybe even third hand. For me its all about the physics and feeling when you drive
This may look good, have some nice cars and weather and stuff, but if its too arcadey, i dont care at all about the rest
Watercooled 5950X | AORUS Master X570 | Asus RTX 3090 TUF Gaming OC | 64Gb RAM | 1Tb 970 Evo Plus + 2Tb 660p | etc etc
i must say i'm getting pretty hyped about this one, check AM video u can actually drop down your top
engines sound awesome and there is actual ppl walking around so it doesn't feel dead like TDU
I was really excited when I saw the Mitsubishi Lancer trailer, but not that much after I saw a proper ingame trailer. Its way to arcadish imo. Still leech it when the time comes tho..
I loved midnight club 1. I could never finish the final race though, i tried everything. You had to tag along with the racer to start the race and i couldn't even do that. I even tried cheap stuff like blocking the road with cars and he would just plow through them. I didn't play the second one nearly as much because there was a semi fun NFS at the time.

imagine having a race from one point to another and almost at the end car breaks down, all over again repeat
it does have damage, which u can turn on and off, now if u would actually bothered to check link with videos i posted u would've known now would ya
GRID was fun for a moment then it got uber repetitive, damage is cool and all but damn arcade car game with only availability to slap different stickers will get boring very fast
in case u missed previous games it was always about arcade not a sim
besides it's no more arcade than GRID or TDU
Got the first game as a xmas gift for many, many years ago, and leeched the 2nd. Used to love them both, but to be honest I don't remember how it felt to drive. Id say as arcade as GRID, but not TDU
should be out by tomorrow...i think it looks fantastic and not more arcadish than the usual grid or need for speed physics. even a bit more realistic judging by the suspension physics and by the looks of it pretty good weightshift simulation from the videos.

can't wait
after seeing some nfs undecover gameplay videos this game is sim like in comparison
the only thing grid has is nice visual damage, otherwise running in circles can get very boring in very short time
I really dont understand why theres only 23 people on mygamercard with Midnight Club LA...its out since yesterday...there should be about 200-300 people playing at least... any delay or so ?
