HP launches new Blackbird 002 gaming PC
Quote: | We wanted this machine to be for gamers and they just don’t care about that,” said Rahul Sood, chief technology officer in HP’s Personal Systems Group’s Global Gaming Business Unit and the founder of Voodoo PC, the game PC company that HP bought last fall. “We threw out all of the rules.”
On a computer that costs so much, making additional margins with the stickers isn’t a top priority. Rather, making an impression on gamers with the right brand message is more important. And HP doesn’t want to be known as just a “remarketer” of someone else’s technology in the gaming space, Sood said.
If you open up the case to the wedge-shaped Blackbird 02, however, you’ll see some of the stickers on the inside, along with a Voodoo DNA brand logo that tells you about its designers. Presumably if you do open up the machine, then the company assumes you care about what’s inside. The stickers are just one example of the Voodoo touch that has gone into the design of HP’s first foray into medium-priced game PCs since it launched the Compaq X a few years ago.
The Blackbird 02 will sell for $2,500 to $7,000, well below the average price that Voodoo gets for its custom-made, hand-painted gaming computers. But it’s squarely in the same space as the intended competitors: Dell’s XPS gaming PC and Alienware brands. Sood said that nobody, however, offers all of the bang for buck that the Blackbird 02 has.

As if running bioshock is somethign to brag about, my old system can run it on high FFS

On the right are a bunch of slots where you can flip one latch and then pull out the hard disk drive. You don’t have to spend time unscrewing it or configuring it. That was an idea that HP borrowed from its server division, Sood said.
ROFLMAO!!! Ya welcome to 200fucking1, that shit has been in pc cases for ever, nothing new

Still, that water cooling system is what caught my eye
I think no one in their right mind would buy stuff like this. Well that is...maybe if you just robbed a bank or something, and are to stupid to build your own.
But that closed water cooling system...me WANTS!

To all the gamers out there: are consoles still more powerful than PCs? Like is the PS3 better than the fastest most OC comp out there?

That's pretty much the same setup I got...
If I may recommend a different model (if you like to rid of heat)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112062
Check that model out, that design is effin great on dispersing heat. I use it as a footrest during the winter cause you can literally feel the heat radiating off of it.
I got the smaller version of it atm...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112058
the many holes pattern is also on the bottom of the PC so it helps even more with dispersing heat, and if you want you could hook a couple fans up down there.

The way I look at it is you can't be a true gamer of you don't build your own PC.
Theres no way I would be satisfied with a machine unless I knew what was in it and what it was for.

But convenient if you have an overflow of cash you NEED to get rid of. The building, buying, planing the rig is what turns me on 100%. Opening those NEW boxes full of new hardware...the smell of new plastic and thermal paste...man!, gets me horny in 1 sec

^of course it is... and amd 6000+ is dirt cheap. You should know that.
Unless you live in South America or buy stuff at overpriced webshops I doubt you will save any money by buying any "ready" PCs
