So guys I just purchased the P182 case:

And with that an additional 120 mm fan now the problem/question is where to place the additional fan in the cabinet? I want to obtain the best airflow for my system so where to place it within the cabinet?

It has 3 pre installed fans: one in the top and one just below that (visible on the pic below) and one in the forward chamber (hdd case)

within the case:

I like the simplicity of that case. But...do you really need a 4th fan?. In my case (Lian-Li) I got a fan that is mounted from the side that covers the soundcard and gracard, could maybe be an option for you if you can mount it that way it is.

Might not be 100% to scale, but you get the picure.
In case of the Lian-Li you have a mesh through the side wall that wents out the air.

Hmmm I might do that, it has a slot to cool down the VGA from the side though also got the choice to putit on the cpu cooler... Got the scythe infinity and you can mount additional coolers on it:

Normal:

With four 120mms!

Anyway gonna experiment tomorrow!

The way the case comes with the pre-installed fans is basically as good as it's going to get. Some people have experimented with turning the top mounted fan to blow down on heatsinks like the ninja and gotten good results. I tried it myself and it made no difference.

I replaced all the Antec fans with Yate-Loons and also removed the fan between the PSU and lower HDD cage, I found it to be unnecessary.

Looks more like they ripped off the design of Lian Li

arr goddamit... Have you tried mounting an extra fan above the VGA if yes then what kind of results did you got?

Above the graphics card? As in, directly in front mounted to the upper HDD cage? If so yes that's how I had mine set up until I got a 8800GTX at which point the fan would not fit anymore.

Or do you mean with/on the ninja, mounting the fan above the video card so that it blows out toward the top fan? I never tried that because I figured pulling ridiculously hot air from the backside of the graphics card over the heatsink fins wasn't exactly going to do anything positive. So I kept mine blowing front to back and depended on the fan in front of the Vid card to keep that cool.

Just remember to maintain a good Push/Pull ratio and you'll get the best out of that case. If you have a 8800GTX I suggest mounting a slot blower directly underneath it where the heatsink shrouds slits are, tons of hot air comes pouring out those slits due to the cards fan not being adequate enough to push completely through. Even at 100%.

^Before the slot blower my ambient temps in the case were through the roof.

hehe, forgot how the layout was when I said "above the vga" which as you pointed out quite possible especially with the eVGA 680i board! Cant even place my cpu cooler properly :/ Anyways the temperature is very nice overall idle;

CPU: 34c
Aux: 38c
HD0: 41c
HD1: 38
HD2: 45.
And GFX on 59 degrees so overall quiet an improvement compared to my old aopen case.. Very Happy But still tends to get a little hot when the action unfolds... Think im going to take your advice and experiment a little Smile

Good choice of case Mutantius Smile

I have the P180b model, it looks identical to the P182 case you bought. I got another 120mm fan with the P180b like you did. I added it to the middle harddisk holder so that it would push air over my 8800GTS, cooling it down by around 4 degrees overall. The lower harddisk chamber i still got the standard 120mm fan as I found out in summer periods, my harddisk can overhead without the ventilation added.

On another note, my cousin was visiting me 3 weeks ago, he is building a new pc and only needed a motherboard and case so wanted to checkout mine... first thing he said when i showed him it, "is it on" Because my monitor was but he couldn't hear the pc Very Happy

Yeah it's quiet and all when you set all the fans to low, but the cases ability to rid of heat suffers when you do so. I personally think they need to ditch the top mounted fan as it provides a perfect outlet for sound to reach your ear, plus it does near nothing for cooling.
