Just hear word that a patch was out for STALKER, i love the game but was let down by the shit weapons, what is this "patch" exactly? is it an official one? apparently it modifies all the guns so you actually can hit what you shoot at.

(im now aware its old news thanks to a PM, but i didnt keep track of the game after completing it.)

I personally think that STALKER not worth playing with or without a patch. The game is a big desillusion, played about 30 minutes and deleted. Sad

I still play S.T.A.L.K.E.R online, it's really fun IMHO. Before you ask, yes I bought the game. Still enjoy it in singleplayer too with a few mods.

I still play it too.. Installed latest patch recently and started again, noticed a few changes at the beginning like more buildings and different stalkers walking around.

I learned not to mind shitty gunfire sounds Smile And I modified my own actor config file so the guns have a little better accuracy and I can carry more stuff. I personally enjoy it after the patch a lot more.

Same here, cant stand that "RPG" style where you need to talk to poeple and choose question/answer among choices you want to tell him.

Where can i get those 2 mods?
I usually dont use mods the first time i play a game. I want to play them as intended but the inaccuracy of the guns is driving me nuts Smile

STALKER was great, and it wasn't overhyped. Superb AI, great atmosphere and levels. Only negative thing is that the way they cut the levels into parts sucks, instead of using a streaming environment like Oblivion. STALKER is great with or without the patch, it isn't a buggy game.

Agreed, it is a fantastic fps for ppl who want something more than running and gunning and getting medpacks and usual fps sludge. Strategy actually is a real thing to keep in mind and environment has never had such an impact on gameplay with any other game.

Also when the next patch comes out with the Freeplay mode... It will be like paying for 2 games for the price of one. This title and the expansion pack when it comes are well worth every penny and the devs should be rewarded for not rushing out a POS and not supporting it afterwards, like is the common trend.

Stalker was a good game, not great, but good. The atmosphere was awesome in some certain areas of the game.

Nonetheless, the game sure had flaws. The bugs were common enough to be a nuisance, even if they were manageable. Oh well... the game had to have had something since I finished it Smile

Banelord is right. Bioshock may be the more polished and better game, but Stalker sure as hell is the better RPG/FPS hybrid. Bioshock has almost no RPG elements at all, it's really just a good shooter like half life or something.

I also found that Stalker, while not the most polished game ever, was a decent game. Not a great one, and perhaps not one that quite lived up to the hype, but decent all the same.

Well each to his own... I think its the other way around. Bioshock was hyped up and I was really disappointed. The art style was good but the gameplay was nothing for me. I love the fights in the destroyed ruins of the villages in Stalker. And even tho the world isnt THAT open... I still find it better then Bioshock.

I love pumping 200 rounds into a guy b4 he dies /sarcasm off. STALKER could have been good but the game mechanics are just lame and ruined the immersion for me.

I agree in a way... But I modified some of the things and found it more enjoyable with a lil better aiming and higher cargo limit Smile

well i like Stalker as it is because its more realistic, IRL its hard to fire super acurate with a gun (a pistol - worse) and IRL you cant carry like a 100 cans of food + 5 assault rifles Smile i like it realistic and hard Smile (ofc thats my opinion)

srry for my bad english Smile

Id look at the mods and modify them to your liking...

Anyway - you need an unpacker, put it in the folder and unpack the .dbb file to a new folder named GAMEDATA , then in gamedata\config\creatures - edit actor.ltx

disp_aim entry is the main one but you can lower the other ones too.

Hope I didnt forget anything Smile

with the last patch is there any compatibility with the first ver?
I played the game , got stuck at the end due to bugs, then waited for patch and as it arrived i realised it didn't work for my saves. Still have them but how could i end the game with patch 4?

Start all over again. Savegames are compatible only 1.0003 -> 1.0004
