|
 |
Ok before my second ROD i had a X360 with a hitachi drive.
Now i got a samsung drive, from what i can tell its more sensitive when its playing burned games;
Since i am receiving a lot of dirty disc errors.
I always used Platinum DL's expensive enough so i figure it should be good.
Anybody had similar experiences ?

Off-Topic: Try Verbatim, the manufactures really nailed some sweet spot with their source materials and production know-how.

yeah thats what i do all the time burn at 2x.
however recent games bioshock, Tiger woods 08, medal of honor airborne.
all gave dirty disc errors after playing a few minutes.
besides platinum is not one of the cheapest brands either, not as expensive as verbatim but the difference is very small.
around here i would say platinum are the more popular brand most pc stores sell them.

i had to pot tweak the laser on my sammy 360 to get it to read the media. Since then not one problem from the best to the cheapest medias. Plus quality of media is a subjective thing. Fujifilm are great Ritek are great, memorex are great (they use Ritek dyes or verbatim dyes) and verbatim. then there's the real cheap ones that are basically disks with fake media codes made in china etc etc

Which way do you turn the pot adjuster and roughly how much ? i don't have any volt-meter gizmo's or anything to measure resistance, a rough estimate would be apreciated.

a tiny tiny turn on the pot can lead to huge increments you really need a multimeter theyre pretty cheap its worth spending the $20 getting one to fix your problem. If you adjust the pot guessing i'm pretty certain you'll end up frying your lens. I followed a tutorial from xbox scene, it takes about 5 mins to do onnce everything is opened. But trust me dont try guessing its a really sensitive pot

OK, thanks.
I did my Gamecube one, i turned it about 1/30th of a turn anti cloclwise (2mins on a clockface) and thats been fine. But I guess if it's really that sensitive I'll have to fork out for a multi-meter.

I bought a replacement lens too pretty cheap from ebay just incase it decides to give up one day

low ? don't you mean high ? I thought the 'resistance' had to be lowered to increase the power to the laser.
