|
 |
VBS, Virtual Battle Simulation ( i think) is a "tool" developed by bohemia interactive, the producers of Operation Flashpoint. They state that VBS1 is not a game, but it sure can be one. It uses the Operation Flashpoint 1,5 graphic engine, and after multiple videos and screenshots of this game, im really keen on getting it. However, it costs around 550$ (yup, you read right.. 3 numbers) for the full game + all add-on packs.
Just wondering if this game has cought the attention of any release groups yet?

Found this:
" The copy I received was a beta and contained some of the recent updates to the training software, updated weaponry, vehicles and player units. All created and tuned to feedback directly from organisations such as the ADF, USMC and others. Though this version was a beta copy I could immediately see the incredible quality and accuracy that the models portrayed. Inside the case was 3 CDs and what I initially thought was a USB Memory key. Turns out this little USB dongle is the only way the application will run, it must be connected to the USB port for VBS1 to function.
While this works pretty well for anti-piracy needs it seems to have been developed to the needs of the military organisations using the software for training."

Well if you read that article I posted you would know why,
This is a very elitist program made exclusively for the government, it has alot more production value then your standard game, Ill quote some key paragraphs:
"VBS1 entails the core software, with addon "modules" that are provided to military and government organisations based on their specific requirements and needs. After fully trialing the system, the ADF has begun ordering a customised version for its own training. Complete with DPCU uniforms, vehicles, aircraft and other equipment to allow students at ADFA and the Staff College to train using indigenous capabilities. The amazing thing about a lot of the content in VBS1 is that they were created to military specifications, blueprints provided by the various organisations to make sure the simulation adhered to the necessary details and provided the optimum training environment. Probably not so amazing considering it had a purpose to serve, it had to be as accurate as possible to provide any sort of useful training."
"That is the difference between a complete VBS1 system with all modules and Operation Flashpoint with a pack of similar user-made addons packaged together. Everything about VBS1 was created based on input directly from the military organisations themselves. Weaponry, vehicles and even satellite terrain has been based on these same requirements. The engine is based from Flashpoint technology, but the VBS1 engine has been developed further to allow for much more complex functions and scripting, I imagine in response to the requirements of their military customers. The new functions allow for a lot of possibilities when creating scenarios, providing for a much more dynamic mission, truly allowing almost anything to scripted into the training scenario."

Groups crack Flight simulator, why shouldn't they crack the war simulator?
And dongle protection would be kind of something new and exciting for game-cracking groups, wouldn't it?

If you know it works and how they sell to there customers you can just buy the VBS1 Core through someone who has already bought everything.
You see the usbkey works on client identication not key/copy identification!
Think about it.

Dongling cracking has been going on for years. 3DStudioMax and Maya have dongles yet they are out in the scene. I think the groups just don't bother cracking this - low priority BUT you could always submit a "cracking case" for them to determine is it viable to circumvent it?
