ok easy tital not so easy of a problem i have looked everyone and i cant finda a solution.
Ok every time i try and start a direct3d game i get an error that crashes me to the desktop. I looked up how to fix it and it said to turn up hardware acceleration I go to do this and it is faded out it wont let me getinto the screen to fix it.
I have abit ip-35e
q6600
evga 8800gts 320
4 gigs of ram
windows vista 64 bit (if i run windows xp 64 bit it works fine)
if i run sisoftware and bring up directx it shows as if i have no 3d hardware accelration.
but it does work in windows xp 64 bit

display properties/settings (where you set resolution & all) / advanced/ troubleshoot/ hardware acceleration, drag all the way to the right
edit: sorry, i read you had xp
well, you can still go look there - with any luck they haven't moved it

WTH ? Have you installed display drivers from www.nvidia.com ?

i cant change the acceleration its greyed out and says your current display driver doesnt allow changes to be made (says the same thing with different drivers installed.
2. i did download the latest drivers and im still haveing the isssue. it seems like alot of people have this issue with vista and 8800 gts cards

you did download drivers specifically for vista64 not xp by mistake, right..

uninstall, reboot to safe mode, run drivercleaner, reboot and install again
|
