yeah but it'd be a shitload cheaper in the long run of course... 10...11 games? it'd have paid for itself

Maybe more. How much does a bluray recordable cost nowadays? I am betting it ain't cheap either. |

i dont think that the term 'clever strategy' can really be applied to sony in the past few years..
id never say not reasonable economical in regards to ps3 piracy.. a bluray disc will ALWAYS be cheaper than a retail release, and over time those discs WILL come down in price quite nicely... as will burners... (remember how fucking ludicrously expensive dual layer dvd burners were when they were new? could buy a good video card for that amount... nower days for that price you could buy a dvd or 2, or an ugly hooker) plus youd have the GENERALLY usual benefit (especially those not in amerryka), or being able to download releases (especially uncut in some instances) releases before they go on sale... yeah, people will lap those ps3 game copies up like fucking crazy as soon someone gets em working...
but i think its great that the 360's games are so readily piratable... i mean really.. if your GOING to get a console, your obviously not that fussed about power and graphics, your more concerned about games, and when you take piratable games into account, the 360 is the obvious choice... and HAVING a given systems, makes you more likely to buy games for it, regardless of piracy... so i actually think piracy for the xbox is a GOOD thing for the system.. i know if i were going to get a system, even though the ps3's superior graphics compared to the 360 DO appeal to me, id much rather buy the 360 and by extention, buy the occasional GOOD major 360 games...
the only bad point (which is a good point for piracy ) is that the 360 still uses dvd, which will really limit the systems future i think... i mean who wants to start playing 4 - 5 disk 360 games? i mean ps2 gamers have had to put up with this havent they? but i just dont think its really acceptable by todays standards given hd and bluray... and microsoft is definately going to get into trouble if they start releasing hddvd games, and expect 360 owners to buy an additional drive just to be able to use their 360s in the future... but im ranting... anyway, however offtopic ive gotten, hopefully you can see what im saying... piracy for 360 = good for system, good for us!... no piracy for ps3 = kinda bad for system... bad for us but if piracy on ps3 was possible, the fact it would require bluray media would not put many people off for long.

Wrong, during its life time, 360 will only use DVD9s as the game media. HDDVD is only for movies. |

or having high quality hi def cut scenes....and as in unreal tournament having more maps on the physical media. which is not really an issue when u think about it because 90% of people who buy unreal are gonna play it online and chances are the maps will just be given out in packs over xbl anyway so the xbox360 users dont miss out (unless there are exclusive ps3 maps)
