I bought one of their "own brand" (actually Point Of View) GeForce 6800 GS graphics cards last year and it failed after 17 months. Despite having "3 years warranty" they absolutely refuse to honour the warranty: "Oh, that's just a sticker on the box, we didn't put it there".
The Point Of View website clearly states:
"Point of View doesn't sell directly to end-users. Warranty claims should always be directly handled with the reseller where the product is purchased. Please refer your products packaging for the exact warranty period of your product."
I've been a good customer in the past, spent a lot of money there, but it counts for nothing it seems, their response as to how I might get my card repaired was to put the phone down on me.
id say your beef is with point of view. it is THEIR warranty from the sound of things, so i dont really accept their statement about not handling warranty claims.. in fact i dont think ive ever had warranty claims handled by resellers, its always the company that makes it... if the warranty is on the box and is also on on the manual inside the box (i guess this is more important than whats on the box, because if warranty is in the manual, you definately know POV are the ones to talk too), id say you should politely contact point of view and tell them the situation, hopefully youll get someone sympathetic...
and yeah, never shop there again, then
im glad i have never ever (so far, touch wood) had problems getting warranties honored with american companies (im in nz, so im always hesitant to buy from somewhere so far away)
