|
 |
Immortal Machines is reporting that Gran Turismo may be released for PC. Here is the quote taken from a German interview with Polyphony Digital's Kazunori Yamauchi: "Question: Is there a chance that Gran Turismo appears on another platform? / Kazunori Yamauchi: It is very very improbable that GT on another console comes out. Perhaps but it comes on the PC. Particularly at the Chinese market we could promote so the spreading".

I really doubt it...they release such an unsignificant statement every once in a while...last time there was a romour GT3 will come to PC under the title "GT Classic" or something like that...its all bs.

Indeed, it's cross pollination to generate buzz and hype. Gran Turismo is a flagship title for Sony.

What's it like these days? Used to play it religiously for weeks/months then stopped for some reason, got an email the end of last year asking me to come back with a free offer of some AP which i claimed but i never got back into playing. They introduced a new thunder ally track yet?

I don't know, to be honest. I've not played in months and I'm on Win7 at the moment.. so I won't be able to (it uses GameGuard iirc, which is incompatible with Win7)

I'd definitely get this one if it does come to the PC. It's one of the few racing games that kept me playing it for hours at a time. I'm talking about GT1 now; also had 2, but found that less enticing.
I did try PT out as well, but I found the handling to be..awkward. Live for Speed is quite awesome though, although I lack the steering wheel to properly play any of these games; then again, if I'd get a steering wheel, I'd also want a proper shifter, because that's a big part of what makes driving IRL so much fun

Don't forget Ace/Air Combat and Ridge Racer .... where are THEY now? Of course...
Exclusives rarely stay exclusive for long.

The difference is that Tekken, Ace Combat and Ridge Racer are 3rd party titles.
Polyphony is part of WWS, hence they develop exclusively for PlayStation hardware.

Indeed, but not only that games like Tekken, and Ridge Racer don't have the relevance they once did. They are relics of the PlayStation era and 'losing' them to multi-platforming is a non-issue. The only game you could say had any sort of significance (in terms of 'loss') is Final Fantasy, and even there you are talking about an insular crowd of fans - and by all accounts Sony retain exclusivity where it matters in Japan - so will the impact be felt at all? Gran Turismo on the otherhand is a flagship title right now, and it has a respected presence outside of gaming circles. It's a system seller that Sony have invested oodles of money into so I'm sure it's going to go multi-platform *any* minute now
I would welcome a PC centric title based upon the GT code but a plain old port would be a waste of time and from Sonys point of view; counter-productive. Besides which, I already own a PS3 and subscription to iRacing on the PC
