I watch a PC game show on the TV the other day and i heard about a new console that run PC games. Of course i will prefer a console over a PC since playing on my 48" HDTV with full surround sound system is way much better then my 21" PC screen.

I know i can hook up my PC on my TV but the GFX are crappy and laggy.

I dont really have info's on that new console but maybe some of you knows about it like if its already out or the price. Anyway here's a link and post your thoughts about it or other usefull info's/link about it.

http://www.digitalgamedeveloper.com/2004/01_jan/features/dldisccs11904.htm

And here's a PDF i found on an article from PC Gamer magazine June 2004 http://www.discoverconsole.com/documents/PC_Gamer_0604.pdf

You dont impress anyone, I have a 70" Sony HDTV that whoops your dads TV by a mile.
But anyways, PC games will awlays look 100 times better then ANY console that will be ever avalible, no console will match the power and the quality of a PC, and thats a fact.

Windows XP SP2
Asus A7N8X Deluxe 2.0
Athlon XP2500 @ 2.4GHz (overclocked)
1GB Corsair XMS DDR400 (overclocked)

2x60GB Maxtor 7200/8MB

Sure sounds like phantom... And it really looks crappy. First of all it's big like an ATX case and weights as much and they still haven't produced a single proof that it really works. They're also like 68 million USD short.

The founder of the company behind Phantom has a history of starting a lot of companies, getting money invested and then go "bankrupt", so chances are this is fake.

And to Skyline: This "console" would look just as good as your PC, since it IS a PC, as long as it's cutting edge or at least better then your PC and you got a good enough TV. It's just a standardized PC, much like Dell computers and crap like that.

It's just better on a CRT when you have a good setup! Everything is crisper and have more details on your crt, whatever TV you have it will always lack details and looke blurry. I play games at 1600*1200 on a 21' CRT and IMO no TV can beat that as no TV can reach this kind of resolutions.

Even if your TV and your setup let you play HDTV, it still no more than 1024*768. And this 1024*768 is streched on a huge area, witch at the end is a pretty low resolution that still not offering more details than a 800*600 PC game. I own a Xbox with a decent TV and a solid PC rig and maybe I'm a graphic whore; I will NEVER preffer a Xbox version over the PC!

At the moment i've got my PC hooked up to a HD projector, running 1280x720. Great for movies, shit for games (for the ones that support native 16:9). Yeah, the screen is like 95" bigger than a CRT, but 1280x720 at that size doesn't compare to 1280x1024 (or 1600x1200 for that matter) on a 19" or 21" CRT.

Personally, I don't think these console pc systems are gonna take off until game developers start taking advantage of 16:9 gaming resolutions (eg- 720x576, 1280x720, 1920x1080). Considering half the games out there have to be hacked to support HD resolutions, what Joe Bloggs out there is gonna go to a console type shop, buy one of these things, hook it up to their TV or proj and go "why doesnt game x run properly?".

Console games need to stick to consoles and PC games need to stick to PC's. You can't have the best of both worlds straight out the box Sad

Haha, ok? That's because specs on most comps of serious gamers are a lot more powerful than any console... nothing really mind blowing there. Razz
