Yeah, it actually does. I currently hate Naruto, but I always loved everything up until Sasuke became all emo, then it all turned to shit with fillers every other episode. 
But this looks good, and i'm a sucker for cel shading.
Used to be Yondaime but forgot pass and what email I used on it. Doh. I had ~1200 posts or something, been around since NForce started or so, so i'm no new guy.

I dont think you can really compare the two to be honest given the years between them and the advances of technology with the hardware.

Erm, if we don't compare the graphics of today with games of the past we'd have no sense of progression. Just because you like the game doesn't mean it's flaws shouldn't be exposed through hindsight.
You brought it up as cell shading at it's best, cell shading is a rendering technique, so I thought it would be pretty obvious we would be comparing graphics.

beautiful game but very odd. checkpoint racing, fighting (like VF5) and jumping to collect coins. Strange mix but i have no idea what naruto is about (the cartoon i mean, i havent seen any episodes) i will buy from PLAY.com it is just €47

ive played this for 10 mins and looks really good,,rhe first level felt like pop mixed with sonic the hedgehog then vf5 ...cool..actually got it for the little un as her first game but think it may be a little complicated with the combos..lol well it was for me but i am a noob at these ganes
